We had more noise being under the gym, near the club, or high up and forward with waves crashing the hull. Back in the day we had to worry about smoke coming up through vents into our cabin from below. Our last room was across from the steward closet and they were very quiet, great location except for the occasional vacuum parked outside our door.

Noise from the elevator? Probably not.

Noise from inconsiderate people getting on/off the elevator? Much more likely. However, the convenience of being close to the elevators will be great!

if sailing with the inconsiderate people-- they will still be inconsiderate 6-8 cabins away too.

Ditto! Our #1 choice of location is close to the elevator.

Another "vote" for being close to elevators. We always book fairly close (never been right across from the doorway opening to elevator) like a few cabins down the hall. We actually book very far out in order to get that "prime" location.....I bet you will end up loving it.....no noise from the elevators themselves....only from people walking down the hall past the cabin...but that is in any location in the hallway. Have a great trip!

I agree with the rest about being near the elevators. BUT do consider that on some ships there is an opening between the glass elevator banks and the start of the cabin hallways that is open to the lobby atrium. When they have a band/singer playing in the atrium that sound can carry up through there. Not a big issue is you don't go to sleep early as that singer is normally done by 11pm... but its still there. As for noise from the elevators themselves? no..

Not on Conquest class. If you are in ocean view, you are on Riviera or Main deck. Band is playing in Atrium which is up a level and has no effect.

Or on the Splendor. We did 2 cruises on the Splendor where the cabins were on the Main deck near the Atrium elevators. Didn't hear any noise from the musician in the Atrium.

We try to book near the elevators. The only exception is on the Fantasy class near the center elevator/stairwell (near the Casino) because the smoke from the casino bar filters down the stairwell and you can smell the smoke all the way down to the Riviera deck and a few cabins on either side of the stairwell opening leading to the cabins.

The only noise I ever heard from the elevator or stairwells was when someone was vacuuming the landing or stairs.

We've had cabins both near the elevator and far from the elevator and it makes no difference to us. It's convenient to be near them, and since we enjoy walking it's no problem for us. There's a lot worse places to be in a cabin.

Maybe that was a hint to get you to vacuum your own cabin? :D
