Dolphins Posted April 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Those boarding the Navigator in New York on May 26th should be aware that day is the beginning of Fleet week and you may encounter traffic problems getting to the pier as the Intrepid Naval Museum is next door. Those boarding the previous day in Norfolk will have the opportunity to enjoy the nearby Fleet Week activities while in New York.
SkiCruiser44 Posted April 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I thought this was going to be Fleet Week. That will be nice to see all the ships in port along with some sailors!!! Is it fairly easy to walk to the Times Square area from where the ship is docked? Look forward to seeing you on board Dolphins!! Dolphins Posted April 21, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 21, 2004 You can walk to Times Square from the dock. It is less than a mile. Walk 5 blocks east to Broadway and about 10 blocks south to 42nd Street.
canadagal Posted April 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Thanks for the info. We are disembarking that day and I want to make sure we leave enough time to make our flight. Also, couldn't decide whether to do a few days post or pre cruise but now I think we'll do the pre cruise in N.Y. Pat
SkiCruiser44 Posted April 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Thanks Dolphins - sounds like we'll be able to walk and not have to take a cab. SOunds like it's going to be very busy around the pier. Kathy Navigator
mrlevin Posted April 23, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2004 Are there any interesting activities open to the public for Fleet Week. We will be in New York for four days prior to boarding Navigator. marc 12/19/02 Mariner 05/24/03 Diamond 10/01/03 Voyager 12/27/03 Voyager <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=6> <param name="day" value=2> <param name="hour" value=12> </applet> Seven Seas Navigator Bermuda <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=10> <param name="day" value=4> <param name="hour" value=7> </applet> Diamond Oct 4th (DOF) <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=11> <param name="day" value=21> <param name="hour" value=07> </applet> Seven Seas Voyager Transatlantic
Dolphins Posted April 24, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 24, 2004 I believe all Navy ships visiting New York during Fleet Week will be open to the public. In addition, the Intrepid aircraft carrier museum and the submarine berthed alongside are open to the public all year round.
