Also can u book one person in a cabin and add more later.

I have booked and paid the deposit for just myself before, then added someone else later. It's a good way to guarantee you have a cabin, and only need to pay the deposit for one person, if that's all you can afford at the time.

It is possible you may not be able to add another person even though there is room in your cabin. If that cruise reaches its maximum number of passengers ( thru 3 rd and 4 th pAssengers in other cabins) you may not be able to add. We were always told its better to book for more and cancel if necessary.

Current promotion (until 8/2 at 11:59PM EST) offers 50% off deposits. Normal deposit for a 7 day cruise in a mini-suite or lower category of cabin would be $250 per person, so with the 50% off promotion it's $125. The full suites have a much larger deposit, and aren't part of the 50% off deposit promotion.

If you book 1 person in the cabin, you only pay 1 deposit...but will be charged the single supplement. (extra cruise fare). When you try to add on another guest if the ship has reached life boat capacity, where too many guests in that section of the ship have booked more than 2+ guests per cabin then they could deny you adding an addition guest in the cabin even though there are extra beds in the cabin. Typically this only happens during school vacation periods or holiday sailings.

US deposit is totally refundable right up until final payment time. If you use a travel agent, some of them may possibly charge a cancellation charge or a fee to change/add a guest on to the reservation....so ask before booking with them to make sure.

Where did you see that deposits were half off? I just looked at the NCL website and it makes no mention of this.

We booked an SJ family Suite and the normal deposit was $250 pp unless it has changed since we booked last Jan. Im not sure if they do the reduced depost for them or not, just that in Jan 2014 the deposit for the family suite is only $250pp. Our FFC paid the whole deposit. :D
