harry0 Posted August 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We are staying in FLL precruise at the Ocean Sky for 3 nights in early December. I will be with my wife and 2 grandkids. We wanted a beach hotel and we got it. I heard the cab fare from airport is about $35. Is there enough restaurants and shopping in the area to keep us busy for a few days? Or should we rent a car? Any restaurant recommendations would also be appreciated Thanks in advance Harry

Within a mile and a half North: Aruba Beach Cafe Anglins Beach Cafe BurgerFi Jojo's Tacos SEA Laspada's Original Hoagies Blue Moon Fish Co Benihana Kaluz Umberto's Restaurant & Pizza Ambey Zuckerello's Fritz & Fran Bierhaus Eduardo De San Angel Less than a mile to the South: Cafe Matorano Julian Fishtales Bar & Grill Lucca Greek Islands Taverna Domino's Pizza Nick's Italian Emunah Ocean's Grille Dunkin Donuts McDonald's

To the OP, I would absolutely rent a car. While I love Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, and The Village Pub, you'll want to be mobile. Without a car if it rains, you are stuck. harry0 Posted August 3, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted August 3, 2014 looks like we are renting a car-I didnt plan on the $15 a day parking fee but its not going to break me either. Car rentals aRre very reasonable in Fla. Just a hassle to pick up-and drop-off.
royalcruz Posted August 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) I live 2 miles from there. Aruba and Benihana are very kid-friendly. Greek Islands Taverna is probably the most popular restaurant in the neighborhood for adults but it might work for families too. There is also a deli and McDonalds by Winn Dixie only about a block away. Nick's would be a short walk and a good choice too. harry0 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted August 5, 2014 My wife thought we could get by with not renting so we will cab it and walk to whatever we could. McDonalds is a good choice for us for breakfast. The Aruba get great reviews from TA too.
