HMC question

It has been almost two years since I cruised. We sailed the Pride with HMC on the itinerary. Waters were rough the day we went but it was still a great beach experience. We'd like to do that again.

 

For those of you in the know...what is the best time of year to visit HMC? I remember reading on the message board before how sometimes the HMC part of the cruise has been cancelled due to rough weather. I'd be bummed if we missed it (totally understanding stuff happens) but I want to plan wisely.

I'm not sure there is a "right" answer to your question.......

I think it really depends on how the seas are, that particular day.

We also went there on the Pride, and, apparently, lucked out.

I'd be totally BUMMED if we missed that port.

We've been there 4 times & made it to the island 3 times , It's still the nicest place they go , just depends on the weather

We were at HMC last week. Sea was relatively calm. it was very, very warm and we spent most of the time in the water.

After winter Atlantic storms and prior to Hurricane storms

Barring tropical storms, etc., Winter tends to be windier in the Bahamas thus making it more difficult to tender. I've experienced more calls at HMC being cancelled in the Winter than in the Summer.

The larger ships have a harder time anchoring or docking in high winds. There is so much surface area or "sail" that the winds can push a bigger ship around.

 

Just another variable to account for in your planning.

My brother and SIL missed HMC on their Pride honeymoon cruise May 19, 2013. Now I will be on the Pride-May 17, 2015, hope all goes well for me.

I have been to HMC 3 times in Feb. and April, on the Fascination and Liberty and luckily had perfect weather each time. :D

It is the tropics and the vast majority of the time you will get there.

It is not just HMC but any tender port on any cruise line the weather/ocean conditions can prohibit safely tendering. Its the Captain's call.

And it is not just the weather at the time yo drop anchor, if there is a forecast for worsening conditions you may not tender even if it is sunny and calm.

 

Pride in a month and a half and hope we do tender!

I am 9 for 9. Scheduled for next month as well. We have gone in Jan, June, September,October and December. We love HMC. We do a b2b each year to get there.

Made it to HMC in January. We had beautiful weather and calm seas.
