There is a note on that new chart (thank you for the link & whomever did that chart!) that says that the classic drinks are Long Island, Mojito, Sex on the Beach, etc. and also come with a $5 Match Play. Does this come with a matchplay even with the Cheers program? Is it only at the Casino bar I am assuming? Only on certain days?

Here is an updated excel file that will auto calculate based on cruise length. It does not contain macros only formulas. Change the cruise length days to your cruise length.

You can buy a classic cocktail at any bar anytime. Ask for a receipt.

Take the receipt to the casino cashier and receive a match play for each receipt.

I have always gotten match play even before Cheers. I always thought $8.75 for a Long Island was the best value drink on the ship. Plus I like them. Match play did work with the old Cheers pricing.

 

Side note: I thought I just read a post where somebody said Carnival did away with match play all together. It was just 1 post and I have not confirmed this yet.

Inability to purchase drink packages in Tx waters is not due to tax or blue law reasons. Tx has outlawed certain types of drink sales that lead to over consumption: 2 for one happy hours, all you can drink for one price etc. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Comission, which has police powers, is responsible for enforcement. A waitress can be arrested for serving a regular-sized pitcher of beer to a solo drinker!

I understand all this however after chatting with a few RCCL cruisers they are allowed to purchase drink packages upon embarkation in Galveston. They cannot receive Bon Voyage liquor or wine until the second day. Their drink choices are a bit limited as all liquor has to be Texas stamped. This limits some brands and certain wines and beers but dang it they can indeed purchase the first day! :confused:

 

Why does Carnival say no? Does anyone know their reason for sure? They certainly serve individual drinks while in port.

 

And why can't we order online before the cruise? But that might be a question for another day. :p

This sounds like great news, however just got off the Allure where DH and I both bought their Ultimate package at $65 pp per day...seems like a lot BUT...no limit on number of drinks...wine included up to $12 a glass, all speciality coffees, fresh squeezed juice, bottled still water, bottled Pelligrino, all soda (including the freestyle machines) and so on and so on...plus the $65 included tax and gratuity...so Carnival at $43.13 per day (as someone posted earlier)...$22 cheaper than Royal...but I easily drank more than $22 worth of speciality coffees (at $4.50 each and bottled water (around $3.00...I'd like to see Carnival offer packages like the above...truly all inclusive.

There's not a certain option to pay it up front but you can add money on your account online ahead of cruise time to apply it to. This is what I'm doing so I will already have it paid for!

You have to be carful Cruise Cash is non-refundable. So if you don't use it you lose it. Now Carnival Gift cards are different if you don't use all of it they give you another gift card for the difference. I don't think you can add the gift cards to our S&S ahead of time but can be added by going to guest service desk or by using the kiosk on board. Carnival gift cards can get gotten here. And Canadian can get them too they just have to pick the e-gift card option. http://www.carnivalgiftcards.com/ With the e-gift card they will send you an email with a link, click on the link and print out the card and that has your number on it that you need for guest service or the kiosk.

I just received confirmation if this from my PVP also and I am excited about it! My first cruise isn't for another year though so who knows what will change.

 

My PVP said you can but it on board or add it to your checkin. Is one way better than another?? I've only read on here people buying it on board.

MMMM $43 against $65 = $22 x 7 x 2 (persons) = $ 308 for a 7 niter.

 

Appreciate ya point of view however for someone's who's cruised Celeb the last two years and taken their all inc @ $50 + 15% = $57.50 I was like :eek: when I heard of the Carnival price drop but also like :D.

 

I did personally think the Carnival was a bit poor in comparison to the Celeb offer at the same price, what with the 15drink restriction, the fact both have to buy it no water etc.

 

However now it's come down almost $15 a day (inc tip) I think Gr8 at least this cruise I won't have the hassle of buying me one drink in the casino and nipping up a floor to get wifey one from cocktail bar :cool:
