Three of my friends snagged solo insides (and got porthole) for $499 on our 08/24 Dream sailing and two scored solo balconies for a little over $700.

 

Our quad did not go down in price but I am just happy to have more friends joining us!

Just keep checking fares on the cruises you are interested in directly on Carnival's website. I believe the list you are referring to is updated every two weeks or so, but I have also seen "no supplement" fares appear and disappear within a matter of days on the booking portion of the site itself. In other words, they never made it to the list.

Aha! I see the difference. Before the single supplement was waived completely. Now they are charging 150%. Glad I booked my next cruise already. $365. for 1 6-6 nighter on Carnival Breeze in a 1A is pretty good. If only I didn't need to fly to Florida but it's still a bargain.

I was noticing too that the zero supplement has gone away. The goccl website now shows:

 

"Starting on Friday, August 1st, single occupancy bookings made under any available rate code will only be charged 150% of the cruise fare when booking an interior, oceanview and balcony stateroom. This offer is capacity controlled and subject to close at any time without prior notice."

Snagged a great deal for my Breeze solo trip - $449 for a cove - past guest Canadian resident rate. Even my airfare wasn't outrageous. Not sure this was on a list. I found it by doing some mock bookings.

I saw my sail date/ship showing on the new singles list on goccl for 150%. I'm booked solo in a balcony cabin and the balcony cabin type shows on the singles list for my sailing. I'm booked early saver and paid the 200% single supplement. When I called Carnival to get the 150% supplement applied to my booking, they denied my request.

Agreed - it is all dependent on the capacity and how soon their solo quota is met. I have one booked in December with no supplement that never made it to the list.

The rules on Carnival disappear as fast as they appear - only the ones that benefit Carnival seem to last forever. You have to hire an attorney to read their fine print - not user friendly

 

Bring back the zero single supplement and we will book those cruises - we can travel on somewhat short notice and will fill the Carnival ships with people who will spend money on the ship and shore excursions.

Thanks Robert. I have called twice and got the same answer. I may try again tomorrow. I'm really fed up with Carnival's early saver. I've learned my lesson to wait and book last minute. I only booked early saver this time because I had to book early to get a cabana on Half Moon Cay. And since Carnival has stopped offering zero single supplements, the incentive to stay with Carnival is diminishing. :-(

I found the best time to book solo rates this year was around the July 4th holiday. I have the large 1A inside cabin on Verandah deck for around $500 for a 7 night Oct Conquest and an 8 night Dec Freedom cruise.

 

At the same time, some cove balconies were going for similar or slightly higher rates on the Breeze. One thing is sure, when these prices appear, they only show for a few days and then they are gone. Have to act fast!

 

Lastly, I will only sail Carnival if I can get a true solo rate. If Carnival wants to charge me double, then I can always find a better value on another line. Solo cruisers should unite on this!!!

I am holding a cove balcony on Magic....8/24/14 sailing (7 night sailing)....single rate is $816.00 plus an OBC of $75.00....net rate is $741.00 + port fees/taxes of $91.70....I think it is a pretty good rate....thoughts?

I'm on that cruise-and have been looking at rates for several months. Finally, jumped on Pack N Go Balcony for $988+ Taxes just last week. Ended up on Deck 9. So that's a great deal. Lowest possible on that cruise I have seen over last 4 months. I thought I had snagged lowest possible rate but you beat it in a cove. Make sure to check on Carnival using different rates to see if you can just get a full balcony. Sometime there is a link for alternative rates. They are still struggling to fill that ship. I have a PVP that I have used forever and I really want to get away so I called him yesterday and set my perameters! He called me back with the offer today, I have until 10:00 in the morning to pay....I am 99.9% sure I will!

 

I will check out the roll call....although I have been on 48 cruises, this would be only my 2nd solo...the first one we were fogged in sitting on the ship in Galveston for 2 days.....I finally just off the ship. I am thinking I should give solo cruising one more chance, sometimes it is hard to find a cruising buddy who can or wants to cruise as much as I do!

We have a bunch of solos on our board (at least 10 or so) that have all gotten to know each other from prior cruises. Kind of funny a bunch of us just independently always like to cruise last week in August (school back in/lower prices/before football season) and so all just end up on the same ship every year out of Galveston when we do a Western cruise. Pretty diverse crowd but we all get along.

I am sure it is because of all the people ruining it buy getting 2 inside rooms just for the extra space and bathroom. They were all bragging on here how they were doing that.

I don't think that Carnival needed to read these boards to figure that out. I know that I figured out this could be done a long time ago but since I am single I never needed to do that. But as a rule, I don't share on these boards anything that I feel the cruise lines should not be aware of (although I'm pretty sure they've seen it all).

the lowest balcony I've seen on that cruise is $639 per person double occupancy or $1278 double occupancy

 

People worry way too much about the supplement rate anyway. Getting a single balcony for less than $800(plus taxes) on a 7 day cruise on a newer ship is a Grand Slam Homerun

That's what is happening to me. My cruise buddy can't go as often as I would like to. So I am trying solo for a few cruises. Already made several buddies on the roll calls.

 

I too noticed the cheaper solo prices are no longer available. Hoping they pop back up for a holiday trip Nov or Dec.

I did get a solo trip booked for a 1A port hole on the Glory for 9/28 7 day for $204 and $131 taxes for 335.63 with casino premiere rate and $300 casino cash. Very nice deal.

I managed to snag a "zero supplement" solo a month or so ago for my upcoming Baja trip, but now the best deal showing on the wesbite for Baja is one sailing at 150%, and the rest at 200%.
