January 18th sailing.

Ill wave to you as you are boarding...lol....is your roll call really slow too? We only have 7 members and most of them have only posted a few times...the last cruise and the one before had about 50 on one and over 100 on the other...I wonder what is going on? Are people not using CC as much as before?

Hi Overdue4cruise-

I am coming in a little late with this but we just got off the August 8th sailing and I wanted to tell you that Karabi was fantastic! We have had some really terrific concierge service in the past (Adrian, Virginia.....etc) and she ranks right up there! Maybe even our favorite! She was charming and always came through for whatever we asked. I would even say she went above and beyond!

Not sure if you will have butler service but I wanted to add the Gian was unbelievable! I didn't think it was possible to top our previous experiences but he did! What a great week we had!

Have a fun, safe trip!

HI,

We are also just off the Dawn…. Karabi who… we did not see her that much, we have had better service before. THe few times that we did see her she was very polite and accommodating, but she was not around. I guess I am used to someone who is always there making suggestions and offers.

Our cabin steward was CHRIS and he was amazing, I can not say enough about him.

Jennifer was our butler and she was good but again no where to be seen, I four leaving notes to be the best communication.

I guess it is a hit or miss when it comes to this, but most of the other posts that I have read do indicate that she is very professional. I am sure that I will have a great time either way :D:D

I had Karabi as Concierge aboard the Jade for three weeks in May, and she was absolutely superb! Needed a fridge to store some IV medication in our suite, and once aboard ship what seemed impossible to work through Corporate:rolleyes: got done in a matter of an hour once she got involved. :D Great personality, gorgeous smile, hope to sail with her again soon.;)

Really? Jennifer has to be our favorite butler to date!

We were really hoping to connect with her again but I think her vacation is coming up soon.

Just off last week, Karabi was great. Took care of everything, very responsive and always professional. Always tried to make requests happen including very last minute reservations at specialty restaurants....

Also just off Dawn and had Karabi. She took care of a few dinner reservations for us, and that is all we asked of her. She was always professional and pleasant. Jennifer was our butler, and we saw her perhaps once a day, but again, we didn't ask her for anything. Had treats delivered to our cabin daily by Jennifer, but I believe that is part of her duties. She did show us how to use the coffee machine and had milk put in the fridge, but I don't remember asking for anything else except the milk. Both were fine, and I am sure would have handled any requests, but we are pretty low key and self sufficient. Karabi did escort us off the ship and did include our family members who were not in a suite, so that was good.

On the other hand, our stateroom attendant Pablo, was outstanding.

Karabi was our concierge on our Jade Canary Islands cruise two years ago and she was great. She really helped us get off the ship quickly for our privately-booked tours, which was a huge help. She was very friendly and made a point of chatting with us whenever we saw her around the ship.

Hi Dexdd- chiming in because I was in the GV with cruiser12. It was 14500. And the contents and condition of the villa were very good. The last time we were in there before this trip was 2011 and since then there were a few things replaced. Like the carpet, couch, cushions on the spin chairs.......

Outside is showing some aging but it was clean. The "bushes" were all cut short and no excess. The upper sun deck has wicker and cushioned furniture now. It only had loungers last time.

I got to go into 14000 as well and it looks fresh as well.

If the rest of the staff that we encountered on our recent cruise on the Dawn were as capable and professional as Pablo, our room attendant, Jenniver, our butler, and Karabi, the concierge, our experience would have been much better. Unfortunately many of the other members of the staff failed to meet their high standards and seemed to want to be anywhere else than on the ship and doing anything else than serving their guests. Our son's room steward was "too tired" from delivering passengers luggage, to make up our grandchildren's berths or to deliver the supplies needed for our son's CPAP machine. We experienced an hour long wait for our lunch on embarkation day in the Venetian even though it was practically empty when we arrived, and another waiter took our card to pay for our beverages and later denied he had taken it even after it was found at the server's station. Lack of security supervision at the overcrowded pool where kids were recklessly jumping and diving into the too-small pool was an accident waiting to happen. Someone needs to shake up the staff on this ship. Edited by negc

Thanks for the update. I think you were also the one who sent us some pictures of the Haven on BA before we went - thanks again for those.

Last time we were on the Dawn in the OS 10006 it had quite a bit of dings, holes where the old tv was, scrapes, etc. that I am a bit hesitant to try other rooms on the Dawn especially the GV for the price. That was also just one year after the drydock.

There were also a few other spots on the ship that while I understand it is an "older" ship, it could also have used some better TLC.

BTW - if you are thinking of ever booking a DOS or OS on the BA or GA (and I'm guessing same for the two new ships) I'd think twice. There is a lot of noise that leaks through the movable one especially in the corner.

Pablo was our room attendant on the Dawn last year, and he was amazing! Truly an asset for NCL.

Was also on the Aug 8th sailing of the dawn and asked Karabi if she would be on my next sailing on the dawn in October and she told me she will be heading out on vacation on 10/10.
