When to Book?

Planning on a HAL Alaska cruise next June or July. We will be a group of anywhere from 6 - 9 people. I will want a combination of some balcony (maybe 1 suite) and some oceanview cabins, depending on who signs up. And I would like to be able to have everyone as close to each other as possible. A year in advance, it's pretty hard to get commitments on specific dates and number of people who want to go. Any idea how long can I wait to have a good chance of getting what I want?

We are booked for July, 2015 on one of the smaller Princess ships (Pacific Princess). Being curious I looked at the website and most of what I consider to be the best cabins have already been sold. Since you are in need of multiple cabins that are close to each other I personally wouldn't wait much longer to book. Especially if you want to go in July. We were told that is the most popular month. I don't know if this is true or not but that's what we were told by our representative at Princess.

You are looking for 3/4 cabins, near each other? But many times the balcony and ocean views are on different decks, if you aren't aware of that?

 

Best would probably be for you to do a few mock bookings and determine what is available on your selected sailing. I would say, to probably book by 6 months prior.

You didn't mention which class of ship you intend to book on HAL. The smaller HAL ships have fewer suites compared to the larger ships. Thus those will sell out quickly.
