Debarkation in Seattle

Hi, all... My family and I were originally going to spend a night in Seattle the day we get back from our cruise, but it looks like we're now leaning toward flying out that morning instead. Before booking our flight, I guess it would be good to know what time we can get to the airport. Just curious what your experience has been regarding debarkation. If we are scheduled to arrive in Seattle at 7am, what time can we expect to actually get off the ship? I guess I'm looking for answers given a couple different scenarios - 1) With FTTF and 2) Without it. We will be mid-ship upper deck if that matters with regards to debarkation zoning. Thanks!!

We have debarked twice in Seattle. Once in July 2013 and again in May 2014. Both times it was the easy and quick. We didn't have FTTF and while I don't remember for sure in July what time we got off I do know we were at our Hotel before 10AM. This year we were hanging out on deck til the very last minute and were off before 9:30. The cab line was crazy long but moved quickly. If you used a porter they escorted you to a different line and it was shorter.

When planning our trips I called around to different hotels. Most all will store your luggage if you arrive before check in time. Seattle is a beautiful city and if you stay downtown almost everything is in walking distance. Be prepared to navigate some wicked hills.

I would also like to add. Sea-Tac is one of the worst airports for long security lines. On our July trip it took over an hour to get thru security. The lines were just as long in May. Thank goodness for that trip I was prechecked. Even that line took over 20 mins.

Happy cruising. Alaska is awesome!!!

Just off of the Miracle on 8/5. We took our time getting off the ship since our flight wasn't until 1:00pm, but we were still off the ship around 9:30. We did not have big lines at security at Sea-Tac, but since we debarked on a Tuesday morning we did have rush hour-ish traffic to deal with getting to the airport. It took about 45 minutes to get there with the traffic.

We had FTTF, so we COULD have self debarked and been off the ship before 7:30. Didn't make sense for us this time, though, since our flight was so late. Many people did self debark early, though. That early you might have to contend with worse rush hour traffic getting to the airport, though.

Ditto about the long lines at the SEA airport. We arrived at the airport two hours before our flight and between check-in counter and security lines, we almost missed our flight.

We chose to spend an extra night in Seattle and don't regret it one minute. It was actually the perfect ending to an already wonderful vacation. I have never been so relaxed after a cruise than when we did this post cruise stay. And as mentioned above, Seattle is an awesome city, worth the visit.

Debarkation @ Seattle was very quick for us. We had moderate lines at the Seattle Airport.

Unfortunately our transfer bus from the ship to the airport got side-swiped on the way to the airport. This put us back about an hour as we had to wait for an alternate bus to come pick us all up on the side of the highway. While it didn't effect us, many people on the bus were unhappy and worried they were going to miss their flights. Just be sure to prepare for the unexpected!

& if you do decide to stay, I suggest the Westin. =)

Enjoy your cruise, I loved it!

My folks and niece made a same day flight in 2012 Alaska cruise..they did not do post or pre hotel but gave themselves extra extra time on each end as mom was in need of wheelchair sometimes. Lots of hrs in airports, Seattle has a beautiful wine bar and lovely shop area in airport. Seattle can get crowded with summer fairs too. Once it took me 4 hours to get through the city on I-90 and I-5, even knowing the tricks at the time. Check your date with city events.

If you can afford time and money..stay on an end or two...Seattle is GORGEOUS and you will feel it isn't all over...that part of our world's beauty. I am biased..Love the NW...Sarah
