Is there pick-up service at the port from any car rental company to an in-town agency? Or, do we have to go to the airport to pick up a car? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes there will be shuttles for rental car companies. Keep in mind that some actually take you to the airport to get your car.

Yes...Thrifty, Dollar, Budget just to name a few..that have very close rental offices that won't have to take you to FLL to pick up a rental...I personally would avoid the companies that take you to the airport...not necessary at all.

We have used Budget many times and have been happy with the service. The 17th street office does get busy with folks dropping off and picking up. I have used code Y937800 several times and got a discount when booking on line. Just check your receipt before you leave the counter as the last time they added some extra charges-a quick call to them after we got home and they were removed.

Once again CC members come through ... thanks for the heads-up ... much appreciated! Now I can go ahead and book the car. :p

We've used the 17th st Avis location and hopping on the shuttle at the port was slick. We did do the debarkation walk-off the ship with our bags so we beat the rush. Were in the rental car before 8:00am & on our way to Hollywood beach for the day. Dropped at the airport before a late flight out.

Did the reverse on another trip, picked up the car at the airport when we flew in a few days early, then had it arranged so we could drop it off at the 17th st location before hopping on the shuttle and being taken to the port. That was crazy busy as the shuttle was full and we had quite a tour of all the berths before we got to ours. Still all good.
