Rare Jamman54 Posted August 18, 2014 #26 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Hey Jamman?? did you have to pay the taxes for purchasing it first day still in port? (if you did) A girl on the spendor said they told her they will sell after 6pm and anything "purchased" before that would be included in the cheers program. So she didn't have to pay tax. was just curious of what you experienced. The only tax you ever pay is on individual drinks while in US port. There is no tax on the program itself. Drinks on first day, if not on Cheers, are NOT credited back under the program. Bookbug is correct. No tax on the program itself. I was taxed between 30 and 35 cents per drink while still in Port Canaveral.

TMac125 Posted August 18, 2014 #28 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Just want to add my two cents here. For those of us who normally by a soda card don't forget to subtract that from your total for the Cheers program to find out the true liquer cost. For me on my 7 day it would be $48.30 for the soda card. So if I buy just the cheers program it would be $301.30 So $301.30 -48.30 =253 /7 $36.14 per day of alcohol for break even would would be 3-4 Strawberry Daiquiris (can't remember if they are $10). So honestly, I would probably be better off this way then paying individually for Strawberry Daiquiris and Mailbu and pineapple. You can also look at it at $301.30/7 as $43.04 per day of unlimited soda and 15 alcoholic drinks, and whatever the limit of frozen coctails with no alcohol. Pretty good deal I think. I drink a lot of soda, juice, etc when on a cruise as I don't like the taste of the water and have my bottled water in the cabin. Hope this helps! SeeJennyCruise Posted August 18, 2014 #29 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Your cruise is 7 days. You pay 7 day price even if purchased day 2. Just to clarify, you pay the seven day rate for Cheers times six days if you purchase on the second day. This is true for those leaving Galveston, I assume it is also true leaving other ports where Cheers can be purchased the first day.
Hey Tina Posted August 18, 2014 #30 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Your cruise is 7 days. You pay 7 day price even if purchased day 2. Does that mean out of Texas (on a 5 night) when we're not allowed to purchase until day 2, it will be charged for 6 days? That's kind of weird that we're charged for disembarkation day and the first day when we aren't allowed to purchase.
tango55 Posted August 18, 2014 #31 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Does anyone know how much it costs for a 6 night cruise? Thanks, Terry

I knew what I meant to say! :p You pay the daily rate based on the total length of your cruise. You only pay for the days you have. 7 day cruise purchased on day 2 you pay for 6 days at 7 day rate. 6 day cruise purchased on day 2 you pay for 5 days at 6 day rate. I assume when you say "7 day cruise" you mean a 7 night cruise (which is actually 8 days), is that correct? Otherwise, it sounds like what you're saying is we're charged for disembarkation day. Which may in fact be the case, but I have a feeling it's not, because it's ridiculous. Edited August 19, 2014 by Hey Tina
tonit964 Posted August 19, 2014 #34 Share Posted August 19, 2014 While we are on this subject I hope someone can confirm that the casino match play is still offered on the Breeze for classic drinks. It was on our 7/26 Freedom cruise. I drink, my DH gambles. The bartender told me to save my receipts for the Ultimate Margarita's I ordered for the $5 match play in the casino. I gave them to my DH to use.

bunchesofun Posted August 19, 2014 #36 Share Posted August 19, 2014 After searching and searching - nothing came up in search using "cheers", I found the page describing the program. It's located at http://www.carnival.com/core/faq.aspx#q-1270134 Does not look like new pricing has been added.
