Breeze 8/10-8/16: A death, a lost kid, and a Whole Lotta People....

Recommended Posts

So in the end, after 47 apologies, I told Ana Maria what I wanted. I had lost one night of sleep, so I wanted to be compensated for one night of sleep. She agreed. We figured out the nighty rate of this cruise, and I was given that amount in cash, came out to $300.35.

Again, this is not SOP, but Victory #2 for The Mouthpiece.

I know some may think it's wrong to ask for money over this, I don't. That stupid kid and his stupid parents are nothing to me, why should they cost ,e my sleep, or anything else. I told Ana she should bill his parents the $300.35 they were giving me. She laughed and said "I wish".

I then went down to the desk, she gave me my money, and a hug, awwwwww.

So in the end, The Mouthpiece netted a total of $752.35 for this trip, and I never even set foot in the casino...not bad.:D:cool:

It was during my talk with Ana that I learned about the death on board. I mentioned that earlier in the week I had heard the Brightstar announcement. I asked Ana, and she told me sadly that a woman in her 70's traveling with her family had died of a heart attack in her cabin, and that's what the announcement was for. Very sad. If anyone from her family is reading this, my condolences for your loss.

I guess some people don't realize how often this happens. It does.

We spent the last sea day doing what was to become Elijah's favorite thing-the rope course!! We got there right before it opened at 1pm, and the line got very long, very fast, and once you are in, you can stay in as long as you want, so go early or expect a long wait in the hot son. DH went around twice, DS five times!!

I'm a light sleeper too and can't go back to sleep once I'm up. I totally would have been irritated by the lost little boy announcements. And probably took on worrying about him to boot. Did you ever find out how old he was? Seriously doubt I would have made a stink about it as the ship had a duty to try and find him no matter the hour. And compensation - well good for you. I wonder if they did that for everyone? Seriously asking because a fellow passenger on our Freedom trip last week made a huge big deal of not being on the ship early since she had FTTF and they wound up giving all of us who had FTTF OBC.

After that, we pretty much started to pack up, the cruise was ending. I was surprised that on Breeze you had to have your bags outside the door by 10:30, on Royal they always give you til midnight.

SO we packed up, and in the morning we were off by 9:30am. Disembarkation was WAY BETTER than Embarkation.

We spent the day at Hyatt Regency Pier 66 because our flight wasn't until 7:30pm. And then we went home!

Now for the wrap up. I like to sum up what I like and what I didn't, makes it easier, like a summary. But before I do that, I have over 400 pics from this cruise, all on my Facebook. If anyone wants to see them, just friend me on FB and you can. I am Tracey Mandell-Steven. Some of my best friends on FB were met in this way.

I also have pics of Oasis and Freedom of the Seas.

What I loved about Breeze:

1. The ship. It's beautiful. I have heard people wanting a comparison between Breeze and Oasis. Well, now I can do that. While Oasis still has the edge for me, Breeze is pretty darn close, and way less money.

Where Oasis wins:

The Boardwalk.

The food, particularly the buffet. Windjammer is great, Lido was horrible!!

The diving and water shows. Nothing compares, and I don't even like shows.

Where Breeze wins:

The waterslides. Oasis has non, just Flowrider.

The ropes course. I liked it better than the same ol rock wall.

The Cove Balcony. I even liked it better than my Aft extended balcony.

2. The Crew. They are great, and will do anything to help you.

3. The pay restaurants. I loved both Bonsai and Cucina del Capitano. I don't mind being charged a bit for better food.

4. Blue Iguana. I didn't care for Guy's, Johnny Rockets is way better!

Now for what I didn't like so much:

1. Time management issues. This ship has not mastered crowds. I have never had to wait until 12:00 to board, and that was WITH FTTF. The crowds getting back on board in Jamaica were awful, took almost an hour. We never left a port on time. In GC, we were told that the last tender was at 3:15, I have pics of FULL TENDERS pulling up after 4pm. That kind of thing bugs me, and it gets down to the passengers, they are rude and don't care about inconveniencing others, just like Lil Bobby and his parents. I can't tolerate rudeness. I am never late, and it just irks me when so many others are. The only time issue that ran smoothly was disembarkation, everything else was chronically late.

2. The Passengers. Not watching their kids, throwing trash and dirty glasses on the floor in the elevators, leaving food around and not cleaning up after themselves. People are just pigs. And I know this happens on all sailings to a certain extent, but on this one it was way out of hand. As I said, ghetto. I told Ana Maria that they need to RAISE the prices to price some of these folks out. She said I was the first passenger to ever ask her to RAISE prices.

Now I know I may sound like a snob, I don't much care (I'm offensive, remember, I warned you). Yes, I used the word ghetto, when the ghetto shoe fits, by all means, wear it!

I have heard people say that Carnival is the "Walmart of cruising" and I never really understood because we don't have Walmart in West Los Angeles, there are a few near by, but not near me. But now I kinda get what they meant. I am not saying I didn't like the cruise, I loved it. The ship is amazing. Some of the people, notsomuch!

Thanks for the great review....I am sailing on the Breeze next week and Allure (same as Oasis) in December, so based on your review/compare I think I will enjoy both...Just sent a friend request to check out your photos...again thanks for the review

So in the end, I'm still a Royal girl, and my next cruise will surely be on Royal, either Oasis or Allure. But please don't get me wrong, this is a great ship. I don't regret going, we had a fantastic time, I just didn't care for a certain element of the passenger population.

Maybe someday if Breeze moves to LA and raises the prices, I'll be back!! But for me, for now, it's back to Royal. I'll try Carnival again in another 5 years, or when they introduce a new kind of ship, whatever comes first!!

Hope you liked the review.

If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer if I can.

And now for some bonus material, The Chocolate Buffet. We liked that a lot, and Royal doesn't have it!!

I'm in Sacramento....actually I just wanted to post so that I would notified of updates because I'm at work laughing my ass off at this review! My boss keeps poking his head in and asking what's so funny!

I also used to be a junior high school teacher, so I totally get the EB scenario.

12-15 year old boys are THE WORST!! I taught HS, but our HS starts at 9th grade, so my freshmen were 13 sometimes, eek. I also have two sons, so silly boys don't scare me. But the fact that they were trying pissed me off.
