cruiselvr1 Posted August 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2014 This will be our first Alaskan cruise. Since most of the port stops last until late, I'm guessing that the MDR will be closed. This will be our first suite trip, and we were planning to eat every night in our room. This is our 10 year anniversary and we wanted to eat in our suite. Will we be able to? LovesCruising Posted August 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Just back from Alaska - how late are you in port and what ship?
RNGALNG Posted August 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2014 You are in a full suite? You should be able o order your dinner in your room from the main menu every night. The MDR is only closed for lunch on port days, not dinner. You will be in fine shape to enjoy your anniversary! Have a great anniversary cruise! IECalCruiser Posted August 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) You are in a full suite? You should be able o order your dinner in your room from the main menu every night. The MDR is only closed for lunch on port days, not dinner. You will be in fine shape to enjoy your anniversary! Have a great anniversary cruise! In Alaska, the MDR may be open on the Juneau and Ketchikan port days. On our Inside Passage cruise in 2012, we arrived in Juneau at 11:00am and we departed Ketchikan at 12:30. Both days the MDR was also open for lunch. The Victoria stop is usually very late so the MDR will also be open for lunch that day. It can and will vary from cruise to cruise. You can only order from the MDR menu during the hours the MDR is open. Even on late port days the MDR will be open normal hours but all MDR will typically have open seating. Loonbeam Posted August 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Also, depending on the port schedule, the MDRs may be open but all on anytime dining. I know I've seen that a few times in Alaskan patters.
Nancyquilts Posted August 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2014 For your anniversary (congratulations!) you might want to try the ultimate balcony dinner, which can be served inside if the weather doesn't cooperate, or if you'd rather. Even my DH, who hates to spend money unnecessarily, thinks it is a good value.
