Mahogany bay chair lift?

Anyone know if you can book the chair lift on the ship or do you have to pay at the lift? I'm trying to figure if I need to take some extra cash since there will be 10 of us and I am hesitent about using my credit card in Roatan. THANKS.

As long as you can walk say 1/4 mile it is a very easy walk and totally unnecessary to pay for this.

No you don't. You can walk to the beach for free. We've done it a number of times, and my husband has a weak heart.

You can book it through the cruise line as a shore excursion. You get a beach chair, some shade, and the chair lift tickets. You can add on a float and snorkel equipment. No need to pay cash just charge it to your Sail and Sign or credit card if you book in advance. We had the excursion tickets, but walked over to the beach. You couldn't get my DH on a chair lift if you paid him to go after getting stuck high above the Mississippi River on the gondola at the 1984 Worlds Fair in New Orleans.

save your money and walk, it is pleasant and short... but if you want to ride, it doesn't go that high, maybe 20-30' above the ground.

DW and I paid and rode the lift. Not worth it to me. If im to ever go there again i will save the money and just walk to the beach. Dont buy the excursion with the snorkle and beach chair. The chairs are free.

It isn't high. Unless you are afraid of being off the ground at all it is very pleasant. You can buy a ticket at the site for jusr the "porch swing" as we call it. That doesn't include the clam shell rental.

 

As others have mentioned it's a short walk down to the beach.

If you use the chair lift, you have to pay to do so and can book it as an excursion and it'll be charged to your shipboard account.

It's a very easy walk on a nice boardwalk with benches spaced out along the side. :)

If you rent a cabana, you get 4 chair lift tickets with that. So if maybe you have a couple of people in your party that have difficulties that might help. The cost is not bad if you split it between 10 people. And if you have kids that need to nap or anything like that, it can be handy for that as well.

I think it is around $35 for the 2 clamshells, snorkle equipment and "flying chair for 2...but what if there are 3 in your group??

There are lots of shaded lounge chairs at the beach so never thought it was necessary to rent clamshell.

i booked in the boat. it was a listed excursion. If i had known how far it was to walk to the beach i would have saved the money

I hate heights, but I liked the chair lift. It did make me feel better since some was over water. It has been sold out on my cruise for a month or two for the one without the kayak/snorkel option, but since a single ticket is for 2 people, $30pp still isn't that bad for what's included with Kayak.

You could actually spend the day at the beach at Mahogany Bay and not spend any money at all!

Walk over and use the beach chairs provided. If you want shade, sit under a tree. Do not buy any drinks or food and don't rent extra things like clamshells, etc.

Just saying ... It Could Be Done!
