foto451 Posted August 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2014 The bottleneck in Copenhagen's port may soon be a problem of the past. Time will tell, but the Langelinie port is being, if not supplanted, then supplemented, by the Freehaven, which has gotten a new (enormous) amount of space for cruise ships, where amongst others, the UNICEF Global storage is situated. The area has even been given a new postal code: 2150 Nordhavn (North Port). Formerly 2100 Østerbro -East Bridge (where the well-to-do are living) If you happen to be in Copenhagen the 31st of August, you should go there. An all-day arrangement. There are no english speaking arrangements. But be there at 11 AM to see the spanish 'Casude' climbing the vertical buildings. Should be spectacular. Also a lot of Danish speaking tours around the area. http://www.nordhavnen.dk/english.aspx The co-owner of Noma, Claus Meyer, will sell his foods at several stands. Nordhavn station is in walking distance to the arrangements. http://www.nordhavnen.dk/english.aspx I will be there to take pictures and record videos. And hopefully post them. Do contact me if you have questions. Klaus.
DonnasMom&Dad Posted August 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2014 I'm looking forward to the final outcome, as one who lived in København 1943 - 1947, and hopefully get to see it. ;) Cato :) <catolga28@shaw.ca>
Danish viking Posted August 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2014 This opening ceremony is about the new neighborhood at Aarhusgade kvarteret and the surrounding area where alot of apartments will be constructed in the next 5-10 years or so. Besides the official opening on Sunday the next big thing in this area is the opening of the metro line M4 in 2019 that will serve this area with the 2 stations at Nordhavn (connected to Nordhavn S-train station by a transfer tunnel) and Orientkaj. M4 is expected to reach the area around the cruise pier in 2028/29 when they start to build the next phases in the new Nordhavn district.
