lindakthomas@hotmail.com Posted August 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2014 We are a couple in our early 60's attempting our first ever cruise to Alaska, so we know nothing about ships or cruising!! After taking advice from your forum we have decided on a northbound voyage of the glaciers cruise from Vancouver to Whittier on the Coral Princess. Would there be much difference in the departure dates of either the 19/8/15 or 2/9/15 re scenery, wildlife and weather. We will tour Alaska and Canada by car post cruise and really enjoy the colours of the fall. Also please could I have some advise on choosing a deck, position and cabin on this northbound trip. We are very light sleepers. We are considering a mini suite with balcony and a ocean view double with balcony mid ship on the starboard side. Would a covered balcony be an advantage? Many thanks
Nitemare Posted August 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2014 August should be much warmer with significantly longer nights than September
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2014 August will be better as far as weather is concerned. We prefer the port side of the ship as most times the port side faces inland when the ship is docked. We have also noticed that on the majority of our Alaskan cruises the port side of the ship faces the glaciers the longest. We like our balcony/verandah covered -- protection from rain.
