ShakyBeef Posted September 6, 2014 #76 Share Posted September 6, 2014 . . . board before Grand Suites The general consensus around here seems to be no; the Suites will board before FTTF. But at least one poster on another thread reported that FTTF boarded after Platinum, but before Suites. I've got both for this cruise, so I'll ask at the terminal and board with whichever of the two goes first.
NolaZach Posted September 6, 2014 #77 Share Posted September 6, 2014 On a recent flight I got lucky and was bumped to first class. I had a middle seat in the back and had got the ticket for really cheap on a website. I'm sitting there drinking while people are embarking. This guy is going on to his SO about how we "First Class" passengers are so snooty and pay more so we can get drunk before they get on the plane. He was looking right at me. So I took a sip and said "I paid less for this seat than you paid for yours" and went back to my e-book.
ferfoodle Posted September 6, 2014 #78 Share Posted September 6, 2014 care free? Im on vacation and I dont race around to beat people to the front. Plus, you do not need FTTF for early debark. You simply let CCL know you have to be off with the first group. Keep giving CCL the 50. They love you for it We get you think it's a waste. There are people (including myself to a big extent) who think it's a waste to spend even $0.01 on such purchases as alcohol or an Iphone. Remember the saying "one man's trash is another's treasure"? Perhaps this is something we all need to think about before telling others how to spend or not spend their dime. ;) I've been told that I have the patience of a Saint. But guess what? I for one love FTTF for the early room access and short line at check in and GS. It is what I want to spend my money on. Therefore, CCL gets my $50.00; whereas Anheuser-Busch and Apple get squat. Bgentles Posted September 6, 2014 #80 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Shoot, CCL gets thousands of my $ per year, what's another $50 if I need to, like last week, be off the ship by 7:30 so I could be to work by 8:30? I didn't have a suite for VIP (last minute cruise), not quite platinum , FTTF was perfect for that trip. Not to mention, I was on board by 11:00 a.m. On sail day. Loved it! jujibee Posted September 6, 2014 #81 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Thinking about doing the Pacific NCL from Vancouver. My wife has never been to San Francisco, and I've always wanted to go to Canada. Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app I would LOVE to do that trip because of San Francisco. stnic_ca Posted September 6, 2014 Author #82 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Yeah. It's perfect for us. We'd fly up to Vancouver a couple of days before the cruise, and have a friend pick us up from the Port of L.A. and drive us home afterwards. tigercat Posted September 6, 2014 #83 Share Posted September 6, 2014 I wish I could go on more cruises and get to platinum faster and we would if we had the money and the time. FTTF helps get us on board faster. Since I am disabled it does help. tigercat

To me, it's much more relaxing to take my time after boarding the ship to drop off my luggage and grab some lunch, a DOD and lounge on my balcony. How is this racing? Why does that seem stressful to you?
Velvetwater Posted September 6, 2014 #85 Share Posted September 6, 2014 If you want it...buy it...don't let others bully you. I spoke to a diamond cruiser and she simply said 'we still get on first and all the rest so it doesn't matter.' However I noticed that when it comes to tenders, guest services and debarking that FTTF and Diamond/Platinum are treated practically the same...at least that was my experience on my last cruise. katiel53 Posted September 6, 2014 #86 Share Posted September 6, 2014 We are Platinum---there I said it!!!!! We love FTTF because before FTTF we had to lug our carry-ons all over the ship until our cabin was ready. My DH uses a walker, so I am the one who has to do the carrying most of the time. Now, the cabin is ready because we were granted that privilege when FTTF was instituted. It is so handy to drop things off and just go to lunch or walk around the ship. I am hoping though, that on Liberty we will get the early luggage which is another benefit of FTTF because on Dream the delivery people didn't deliver ours until everyone else on our floor got theirs. I do know now that we are to be sure that we get an orange sticker put on the luggage, so hopefully, we will get our luggage soon after we board. Thanks all of you for purchasing FTTF and if you are in line at CS and I happen to be there, you won't get any comments from me!
cruisinlarge Posted September 6, 2014 #87 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Ok so everyone here is for the positive side so I guess I will be the negative one . My problem is not with people who purchase FTTF it's with Carnival for offering it . It is or should be a perk earned by loyal customers who repeat cruise with carnival. A benefit of repetition so to speak , however with that being said it's no different than being at Disney or other theme parks , waiting in line all day and along comes someone who pays extra to not wait and steps in line in front of you so to speak . Perks have no meaning if bought or sold instead of earned through loyalty . On the flip side , no one really know who paid into the program unless the person advertises it .and on our most recent cruise the baggage handlers at the port added FTTF stickers over our VIP luggage tags to get our bags to our room quicker . I'm sorry you're upset by FTTF. Maybe it would help you feel better about it if you looked at the benefits of FTTF ('speed passes' at amusement parks as well, for that matter) not as perks that should have been earned through loyalty, but as an upgraded, more premium product which every customer has the option to purchase. That's all it really is. It's not taking anything away from "loyal" customers. Just as cars can be bought with better option packages for a higher price, etc., anyone (who buys while supplies last;))can choose to upgrade their Carnival cruise product with FTTF. And if you're Platinum, you are given the same benefits. You actually have more benefits because of FTTF than you did before. They gave you all the stuff we lowly Golds and below have to pay for.;):)
losijon Posted September 6, 2014 #89 Share Posted September 6, 2014 . . . board before Grand Suites Wasn't the case in long beach last year. We had a suite and went with platinum and diamonds. And THEN FTTF went on. ..................................................... floridabum Posted September 6, 2014 #90 Share Posted September 6, 2014 I will agree with others that said they never had issues with people except at the Guest Services line . The nasty looks you get from people waiting in the long line is priceless as well as the under the breath comments they make that are really not under their breath. I used to feel a bit uncomfortable with it but now I look forward to it:D

Bgentles Posted September 6, 2014 #92 Share Posted September 6, 2014 I've only used it once, last week actually, on my first solo cruise. I went inside and am not yet platinum but I had to be off early to be at work at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. That alone was worth it, boarding at 11:00 a.m. Was a great perk as well. Wish it was available for my 9/21 sailing[emoji25] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
KatieCharlotte Posted September 6, 2014 #93 Share Posted September 6, 2014 I had no negative feelings at all toward the people who paid $50 to board ten minutes before us and drop off their carry-ons before lunch. :D I get that it's worth it to some people. I thank them and all the people who purchase alcohol and gamble in the casino, because they make cruising affordable for us cheapskates. Someday we will be platinum. We will enjoy the perks, but we will have enjoyed all those affordable cruises a lot more. :) Now, if Carnival would just drop the price on the Easter cruise I have my eye on, I could have two cruises booked at the same time, a new milestone for me. :)

CruizinMama1026 Posted September 6, 2014 #95 Share Posted September 6, 2014 This is our second cruise and first time using the FTTF. We're cruising out of Port Canaveral on the Sensation. From reading this forum I understand there's a seperate waiting area for FTTF with VIP? How is this different than the normal waiting area? How long does it take you to receive your luggage? Thank you :)
Bgentles Posted September 6, 2014 #96 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Platinum, Diamond, (and suite guests) members go to the left before embarking, FTTF to the right. General boarding is in another section and will board after P,D, suite holders, and FTTF. luggage should be available when you board, or shortly thereafter. As long as you've checked in on line, at Port Canaveral after you go through security go to the back ticket counter marked "keys". From there just turn around and you will be in the FTTF seating! Have a blast! I've only been home 10 days and I'm counting down the 15 days until I hop on The Liberty...love the DOD's!! So far I'm LOVING some of the new additions like FTTF and possibly this Cheers program. :D Agreed! If you think you will drink 5 or more drinks per day it is worth it to me. It includes sodas, but not bottled water:confused: Drinks are roughly $8 plus the 15% gratuity. The cheers program is around $50-$55 per day making it around $200-$220 (I can't remember exactly, LOL) for your four day cruise. It is very easy to drink 5 or 6 per day unless you will spend a lot of time off the ship in port. I don't usually get off the ship as I go to The Bahamas so much it's not worth it to me, I prefer to enjoy the pool while everyone is gone:D. Wait staff on Sensation Lido deck are great. Look for a little guy they call "I wanna " and tell him Miss Rebecca says hi:D
