Ken-SanDiego Posted September 10, 2014 #26 Share Posted September 10, 2014 Just be aware if you get caught giving your cheers program beverages to other people they have a right to terminate the program with no refund. All it takes is a ship's officer or a bartender in a bad mood. Only one drink at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted • Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! package and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest’s Sail and Sign account
bruadhin Posted September 10, 2014 #27 Share Posted September 10, 2014 On our cruise last year, we wanted to buy a drink for a new friend and were willing to pay, actually I was assuming we would HAVE to pay. The bartender said "no problem, you have Cheers. It doesn't matter who drinks it" She gave us a drink for our friend knowing that we were giving it to her... so I guess it really depends on the bartender. The bartender did you a favor. I hope you had been taking care of her.
katiel53 Posted September 10, 2014 #28 Share Posted September 10, 2014 I look at giving a friend, relative or anyone a drink from your Cheers program as stealing. The program clearly states that there is no sharing and that's what giving someone else a drink on your program is. Off topic, I stated a few days ago that having people bring items to Quest because they either had been on another cruise or had someone provide them with a list was cheating. After being hammered for my opinion, one of the posts stated that it was "being prepared" and not cheating, So maybe, the same logic applies here. I wouldn't drink 15 drinks a day, but others on our sailing might like to have a free drink. Cheaters, stealers etc all make a good argument to suit themselves at the perhaps end costs to the rest of us. JMO.
PA Beachlovers Posted September 11, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Another question, do you sign a receipt for each drink you receive on the cheers program? If so and you are getting exceptional service is there a place to leave and extra tip like on the normal drink receipts?
SNJCruisers Posted September 11, 2014 #30 Share Posted September 11, 2014 We're planning to do Cheers on the Dream only because we see the price for 7 day cruises has gone down to $37.50 per day - is it a fleetwide price change? I'd be disappointed to get on board and find out that's the one ship who still has the old pricing. From what I have read on board, the policy is in effect for all of the ships that are currently participating in Cheers. Another question, do you sign a receipt for each drink you receive on the cheers program? If so and you are getting exceptional service is there a place to leave and extra tip like on the normal drink receipts? The one time we had the Cheers program, which was Jan of 2013 on the Breeze, we had to sign a slip each time and you could provide an additional tip on the slip if you desired. ksy8384 Posted September 11, 2014 #31 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I am looking at the Cheer's program so that I can try drinks that I may not have otherwise. Is it "stealing" if I order a drink, don't like it, and give it someone else in my party so it doesn't go to waste? Or is it better just to throw it out? path145 Posted September 11, 2014 #32 Share Posted September 11, 2014 The bartender did you a favor. I hope you had been taking care of her. I actually started arguing that we weren't allowed to share and that's when she told us "no problem". Yes, we were taking extra care of all our bartenders! We always had some $1 on us to tip extra for the drinks.

Carnival's little 'out' they left themselves for pricing.
linbobky Posted September 11, 2014 #34 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I have read where couples would get 2 cabins, women or men who don't drink in 1 cabin and the other 2 in the other cabin. the 2 in one cabin buys the cheer package and switch rooms after. both cabins has the cheer package while paying for 1 per cabin. you would think that carnival would catch on to this.:) and I havn't read where anyone has had their package taken away for sharing. JLee1973 Posted September 11, 2014 #35 Share Posted September 11, 2014 This would be known as stealing. That is a little harsh don't you think. I don't view it as stealing but will agree it is thought like this that requires everyone over 21 to buy cheers.
vacruisin Posted September 11, 2014 #36 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Personally, the cheers program is no longer for me. Yes, it can save you money if you drink enough but the savings are not enough for me to sacrifice my "freedom" to do as I choose when I purchase a drink. The restrictions on how you purchase a drink takes away too much from my vacation. I mean on my last cruise I couldn't "buy a round" for my buddies like I wanted to (who wants to wait 5 minutes a drink). Also when I tried to buy a shot of Fireball Whiskey to mix with my Angry Orchard beer I was told that they were 2 different drinks so I had to wait 5 minutes to get the whiskey to pour in my beer. However, you can buy a Long Island with multiple alcohols in it and it's only considered one drink! My next cruise will be cheers free. The $804.00 we spent on our Conquest cruise was not worth all the "rules" we had to endure for the "benefit" of using the program.
ANGlady Posted September 11, 2014 #37 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I am planning on purchasing the Cheers program for myself and my boyfriend next weekend. I was wondering if they allow one of you to go to the bar with both Sail and Sign cards that have the Cheers program on them and order a drink to be applied to each card? utkikr21 Posted September 11, 2014 #38 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Having never sailed on Carnival, we're considering this for our upcoming sailing, but as we prefer wine to beer, can anyone give me an idea of the selection of wine available by the glass and the cost per glass? I am planning on purchasing the Cheers program for myself and my boyfriend next weekend. I was wondering if they allow one of you to go to the bar with both Sail and Sign cards that have the Cheers program on them and order a drink to be applied to each card? We did not have any problem doing this last week on the Dream. There were several times where either DW and I were up and away from our chairs but we were still able to use both cards to order a drink.

I agree with you the limits on when and how many you can purchase can be frustrating but keep in mind the new price, at least for now, on a 7 day cruise is only $602 for 2 people. That does sound a lot better that $804.00. Also, one of the things that I like about the program is that we get to pay for our booze in advance which is great because my DW cannot stop worrying about finances EVER, even on vacation (even though we are not in financial distress by any means). So, the more things that we can pay in advance, the more she can relax on vacation. We may reconsider but she was pretty adamant about not signing up for it after the Conquest trip. However, we said the same thing after we sailed on the Breeze, yet we bought it again on the Conquest! :p:confused::eek:
Rowan555 Posted September 11, 2014 #41 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Has anyone on a recent sailing gotten the $5 casino match play coupons when turning in receipts for classic cocktails ordered with Cheers? We were able to do this on the Sunshine, but not on the Conquest (right after Cheers came out). Curious as to the new protocol as we enjoy the classic cocktails and dh enjoys blackjack :)

Rowan555 Posted September 11, 2014 #45 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Yes, you can leave an additional tip...I often do. We've also found the bartenders love cash. Giving the bartender at a bar you intend to frequent a $5 or $10 bill on your first day will ensure they remember you and give you great service the entire cruise. Seany527 Posted September 11, 2014 #46 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Do you have to go to a bar to order with cheers? Or will a crew member walking around taking drink orders be able to "deliver" it to me? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
