Princess pre-cruise hotels and transfers in Venice Italy

We're booked on the Island sailing from Venice September 19, 2015 and were considering booking our hotel through Princess. We've done this before in other embarkation ports and were pleased with Princess' chosen hotels and the transfer service.

This is our first trip to Venice, so any information about these hotels and the transfers (i.e. Is it a water taxi, or a bus over the causeway) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you all in advance.............

Hi,

We cruised aboard the new Regal Princess this past June out of Venice. We booked a pre-cruise two-night hotel package through Princess at the Bauer Hotel. This was expensive, but the hotel is excellent and has a wonderful location. Also, we loved the buffet breakfast both mornings with incredible views of the Grand Canal.

Upon arriving at the Venice airport, a Princess representative met us and escorted us to our own private water taxi that took us to the hotel. After our stay, we rode the water taxi with several other Princess passengers to the ship. Also, we booked two walking tours through the Princess representative while we were Venice.

Our two days in Venice were outstanding and the hotel, transfers, etc. were perfect.

Chuck

I have been to Venice twice and while both hotels were pretty good I would recommend the one from my second stay. In fact, I recommended it to a co-worker who was actually going on a cruise from Venice and their party of 4 loved the place.

The hotel is called: Ca' Dei Polo it is a 5 min walk to bus and train stations Prices are really good and includes breakfast. It is in a building from the 1400s

When we went to Venice for the first time, we did the pre-cruise on our own....I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member, so that allows us to stay for free in most places. Therefore, we chose the Hilton Stucky Molino which is on Guidecca Island richt across the Guidecca Canal from the rest of Venice. Excellent hotel and service. We also went to venice link dot com to get tickets for the ali-lagina service from the airport to our hotel....it was nice because you make multiple stops along the way and it is pretty cool.

We stayed at the Hotel Saturnia through Princess. As has already been said a Princess rep. meets you off the flight and takes you to a water taxi. It was shared with another coupke on the same flight. It is a great way to enter Venice. The hotel has a dock for water taxis. As the room wasn't ready (we were about 2 hours early for check-in) it was an easy walk to St.Mark's (over one bridge and 3 streets (not blocks) away.

Food was good - we had breakfasts and dinners there. The room was "quaint" but the bed was comfortable.

In March this year I stayed at Boscolo Bellini, just down the road from the Santa Lucia Rail station. It is close to the Ferrovia (water ferry) station and also in a lovely area. To get to the cruise station I hired a porter, through the hotel reception, to take my bags at 5 E per bag to the People Mover and then caught the people mover to the area near the wharf where I then used the free bus transport to the actual terminal. The porter was fantastic, wheeled my bags on the trolley, up and over the new bridge and across the car park area. Please book through the hotel if you use this as there are many porters who are not "official" and some want to charge extra at the end. My porter didn't even want to take the tip I wanted to give him!!

If you were considering booking your own hotel, I would recommend the Hotel Olimpia. It is a Best Western property, and is easily accessed from the Piazzale Roma .... just 2 relatively small bridges to cross. The hotel itself is charming, with comfortable rooms and modern bathrooms; it's well located for walking around in Venice, and had an excellent buffet breakfast. The staff at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful.

On the morning we boarded the ship, we walked back to the Piazzale to the People Mover to the port. Princess met us as we disembarked the people mover, and had a bus available to take us to the port if we wished (we did!), and there were crew there too to take our luggage to the ship. We didn't see the luggage again till it was delivered to our cabins.
