hotels in seattle

Don't be overly concerned about being "close" to the Market. Seattle is actually quite small and the Market is easily accessible. ie If you stay by the Space Needle/Seattle area, it's only a 5 minute ride on the monorail to reach the downtown core. Or a taxi will be $10-$15.

Find a hotel within your budget then ask for feedback.

Or if you don't mind the commute, stay by the airport and use the Light Rail to get downtown. $3, 40 minutes.

Light Rail schedule.

The station is an 8-10 minute walk from baggage claim so you must be able to easily manage your luggage, then there's a walk to your hotel.

To reach the Market, exit at the last stop (Westlake), look for overhead signs to the 3rd Ave exit, then walk downhill for 2 blocks and you're there.

Yellow Cab is stationed at the airport ... I think they're about $40 to downtown. Or $30 with flatrateforhire.com / eastsideforhire.com

any suggestions where to stay? We want to be near pikes market. Is that considered downtown Seattle?

We just returned from a weekend in Seattle and stayed at the Roosevelt Coast Hotel. It is centrally located, reasonably priced and close to shopping, the monorail and about 6 blocks from Pikes Place Market. I'd stay at this hotel again.
