Anyone use the phone to call Italy to make reservations for Uffize?

I lost the thread that someone gave great advise how to book museums in Florence on the Internet or directly by phone.

 

I called the number to make reservations for The Uffizi museum. (+39 055 294883)

The information was given by a computer generated "English" voice. I couldn't understand what it was saying. (Too metallic, too fast)Anyone else have that problem?

We booked on line and it was very easy, I had made an error -so many museums to keep track of- they were quick to respond to my email and correct my error for me.

There is a service charge when you book on line. They want 30 Euros for 2 tickets.

 

The actual cost is about 13 Euros for 2.

I booked tickets for the Academia this week on the same number you quoted as I needed a definite time slot. It did take me a couple of attempts but I used an access code to make the call cheaper. The message is a bit garbled but the first option you need is 2 for english.

I used the phone several years ago but don't recall having any problems understanding what was said.

 

Reserving by phone really seems the best way to go. You don't pay a big service charge, and you don't actually pay for the tickets until you pick them up -- so if something should happen to prevent you from getting there, you're not out any money.
