packedandready Posted September 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2014 Please excuse the ignorance of this question, but I've lived my whole life in an area that doesn't have bus service so I have very little (if any) knowledge of how public transportation works. We'd like to spend the day at Royal Palms. I know cabs are available, but read that the bus is a less expensive option. I'm pretty sure (:o)that we could find a bus stop but this brings up the questions..... 1. How do you know which bus to take?? 2. Since the buses make scheduled stops, how do you know where to get off?? Can we just tell the driver where we want to go and then they will tell us our stop?? 3. For those of you that have taken this trip, how long does it take? Want to make sure we allow enough time to get back to the ship.
Chery Posted September 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Read the the "Sticky" above from Warm Waters: Grand Cayman: Compiled Info: beaches, etc. It will give you details about getting to beaches plus much more.
cb at sea Posted September 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2014 It's MUCH easier than you are imagining!!! Just ask...the bus driver is happy to tell you if when to get off! The buses are more like big vans....not the huge diesel city buses you see in NY or Wash. DC.....

Sean Paul Romera Posted September 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Public transportation is very accessible in Grand Cayman. Just ask which bus is going to West Bay. The drivers are pretty friendly and they would be happy to help you find your stop. No worries. Pretty cheap too just $2 each way. The Royal Plams is less than 10 minutes away from the port.
