hisfirstm8 Posted September 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We are sailing on the Oasis in November and have some onboard credit. I know that you can make purchases on the ship with this money, but can you use the onboard credit for the casino? Thanks for your help!!!!! phoenix1181 Posted September 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2014 You can use OBC for anything onboard but if you take cash in the casino, you'll be charged a 5% fee.

hisfirstm8 Posted September 23, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Thanks for the input. Just trying to decide how much onboard credit to get from our RCL Visa card's points.
Clarea Posted September 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Thanks for the input. Just trying to decide how much onboard credit to get from our RCL Visa card's points. The Visa OBC is refundable, so if you have any excess, you should be able to get it back in cash at the end of the cruise.

CASue13 Posted September 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2014 My husband served in the Air Force in the 60's in Vietnam. With his DD214 can he get any onboard credit from Royal Caribbean? Thanks.

Thanks. Royal does not give OBC for military service. Some cruises have discounts available for military service.

Depending on the source of the obc you can go to the front desk and ask for cash. I once ended up with an OBC of about 2k. Every time we stopped in port I would go get spending money. hisfirstm8 Posted September 24, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted September 24, 2014 How do they tell which onboard credit came from the different sources. We will have some credit for booking our cruise while on a cruise and the rest will be from Bank of America. That would be great if we could get some cash for some of the onboard credit! Each on onboard credit is coded with an indicator that tells the Guest Services people if it is refundable or not.

OBC from redeeming Visa points is entirely refundable. However, it will depend on the ship whether they will refund you money back on a daily basis against that OBC for use while in port. We have been told that Guest Relations is not a bank and that you can only get a refund of unused refundable OBC on the last day of the cruise.
