Merlinite Posted September 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Princess touts using local influences for special menu creations. Does this mean they will serve beef from Argentina and seafood from Chile? I hope so :D Looking forward to trying the new Seawitch microbrew and other 50th anny stuff... Sunviking Posted September 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2014 When we took the Ultimate Ship's Tour we were told in the Galley that all meat and seafood comes frozen from the US and is delivered at various replenishing ports. The reason given for this was to ensure that there is uniformity of quality. I don't know if that's still the policy but it was then (2011 on the Ruby Princess). vickie_bernie Posted September 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2014 we have done two South American cruises, and recently did the 49 day trip on the Crown earlier this year. The menus were all the normal menus we usually see on Princess. They did have South American inspired entertainment, movies and guest entertainers. We really enjoyed the food in many of the ports, especially Montevideo You can read about it in my blog if interested.

This is true of other American oriented cruise lines as well.

We were at the most traveled lunch once, and sat with the Food&Beverage manager. This was on the last carribbean cruise of the season. He was describing how containers were already enroute to europe to provision the ship on it's turn-arounds there. That takes some serious planning, it's not 2-day shipping from Amazon!
