Boston Pier rental car

I have elderly friends sailing the Maasdam from Montreal to Boston, spending 3 days post cruise in Sandwich. Which rental car company is the closest to the Port? They want to pick it up there and drop it off at the airport 3 days later. Any recommendations or experience in doing this.

You might want to also ask on the New England board . . . but there are no car rental agencies in the port area in Boston. It's an industrial area. That being said, you're probably a $10-15 cab ride from the Logan Airport car rental companies, and there are companies like Enterprise that will pick you up.

 

Your best bet is to call a few places and see what you can work out, or do an Internet search to see if any agencies have outlets in South Boston, which is closer to the pier than the airport or downtown is.

Thanks Nitemare, I'll do that. They are trying to avoid getting the car from the airport so I'm trying to help them out.

I did a Boston to Boston cruise last year. The only way to get a car rental would be to get to the airport. The Black Falcon Cruise Terminal is only a few miles from Boston's Logan Airport. The taxi fare cost us less than $15. The car rental pick up from the airport was easy and painless.

 

I think that is your only option. There really is nothing at the Black Falcon cruise terminal.

Thanks jstducky for the info. I think they finally realized that and were able to book a car from the airport. They actually got a Lincoln Town Car for $200 for 5 day!!! :eek: Internet special. :D
