beachbum53 Posted September 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2014 From what I've been able to find, the East Side Beach is relatively undeveloped. If we rent a golf cart and go exploring like we did the last time we were at grand Turk, would a stop at the East Side beach be worthwhile or a waste of time? Does anyone know if you can go swimming and snorkeling there? Thanks for any info. you can provide.
Rare crewsweeper Posted September 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2014 You'll be totally on your own, no facilities of any kind along that coast, but yes, assuming the water isn't rough, you could. Get a decent map to find the small roads leading to the beach. On the road out of the cruise port, just before you get to Governors Beach there's a right turn that'll take you to the east side facing Gibb's Cay. I think the next east side entrance is north of the airport a ways, toward the light house. There are a couple of turnoff for housing developments that can lead to the beach. beachbum53 Posted September 27, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted September 27, 2014 Thanks crewsweeper. Since that area of the island is relatively undeveloped, I didn't think there would be any facilities. We haven't really decided yet what we're going to do when we get to Grand Turk. Ole Faithful Posted October 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2014 The East side of the island really gets hammered by the waves during storms, and gets its unfortunate share of flotsam and jetsam; the next land east is on the continent of Africa. I have the misfortune to walk on the beach there and get tar balls on my feet (oil drops from ocean ships.)
