Iamthesea Posted September 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2014 It's been awhile since I have been on the Princess forum or sailed with Princess. :o Looking for this cruise (title) for May of 2016. I see one posted for May and August of 2015, but nothing for '16. Has a schedule not been released?

I see one posted for May and August of 2015, but nothing for '16. Has a schedule not been released? That schedule hasn't been released yet. We're waiting for the same cruise. I started a thread asking when those cruises would be posted and Spring of next year seemed to be the consensus..
Iamthesea Posted September 26, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Thank you. I should have done a search, but didn't think that anyone else would be looking for the particular cruise this far out. :D  Having to wait until next Spring will mess up my planning. Iamthesea Posted September 28, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted September 28, 2014 Thank you for the post link. My husband likes this itinerary. We have not been able to find it on any other cruiseline for a Fall or Spring cruise. We normally sail with Celebrity, but their British Isle cruises are in mid July, when we have a standing yearly beach trip. We have cruised the Coral princess in the Panama Canal and really liked the ship. We currently have friends on the Royal Princess to New England/Canada, so anxious to talk with them about the ship. They are die hard RCCL fans taking their first Princess cruise! DH wants to play golf in one or more of the BI ports. Hope that is doable? Here is the 2015 cruise schedule for Fall, if anyone has suggestions for golf or other "must do" excursions, please share. :) Southampton, United Kingdom Guernsey, United Kingdom Cobh, Ireland Dublin, Ireland Belfast, United Kingdom Greenock, United Kingdom Kirkwall, Scotland Inverness, Scotland South Queensferry, Scotland Le Havre, France (We spent several days in Paris in May 2013) Southampton, United Kingdom
majortom10 Posted September 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2014 For those that are thinking of doing a British Isles cruise onboard Royal Princess in 2015 the ship will not directly dock in Dublin like all other cruises to British Isles have done. Royal Princess will dock at Dun Laoghaire and will be a tender port so to get into Dublin city you will have to get the tender then a short train journey into Dublin. helenb Posted September 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2014 We are also looking for a British Isles cruise in 2016, departing late May or very early June. Can't wait for the schedule release!

2theship Posted September 29, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Shogun is the absolute expert on this itinerary but I'll throw a couple of thoughts in, all based on what we like to do - we're not golfers. If you can cruise during the time that the Edinburgh Military Tattoo is happening, it is absolutely a must-do. We had the good fortune to sail with someone who planned our transportation, dinner and tickets so we managed to avoid the massive crowds going to and from. However, I heard that about 1,000 people from our cruise took ship excursions to the event. Kirkwall has some wonderful archaeological locations like stone circles that are older than Stonehenge. There are some excellent guides but I was able to book a bus through the local bus company and a group of us had a great day seeing the island. In Le Havre, we rented a car and drove to Bayeaux to see the tapestries then to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. I am a huge fan of Celebrity cruises. However, Princess does a much better British Isles itinerary - we've done it twice and both times choosing Princess was a no-brainer.
Shogun Posted September 29, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Hi lamthesea It will not be possible just to turn up and play at any of the big courses, without booking ahead first, however this is not an issue, many can be booked on line months in advance, there are tour companies that will provide clubs, transport and arrange bookings. Then most of the big courses have a 2nd or 3rd and sometimes a 4 the course, which are a lot cheaper to play on, Then there are 100s of other courses around Scotland. Shogun Posted September 29, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Hi 2theship, Maybe not expect but it does help living here. Kirkwall is a great port. Wish more people knew about it Yours Shogun Sent from my Nexus 4 using Forums mobile app
msg_girl Posted September 29, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 29, 2014 We didn't play any golf when we did this trip but I did see people going off to this course http://invergordongolf.co.uk/cruise-liner-visitors/ and it seemed like they were very organised. rje1955 Posted October 3, 2014 #17 Share Posted October 3, 2014 We are also planning a cruise in 2016 to the British Isles, my wife and I will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary. We did an escorted tour once and we did not like having to live out of our suitcase every day. You don't stay long enough at one location to unpack and then you have to have your bags packed and ready to go outside your door by 6 A.M. so they can load it on the bus to the next location. Then sitting on a bus all day wasn't fun. We would rather unpack "once" and wake up at a new location every day, spending the entire day touring on our own, without being restricted to where and when you are going. I just wish we could stay in port longer, I would love to spend an evening in Dublin for dinner and merriment...:) We plan on flying into Paris spending a 3 days there and then taking the Eurostar to London and spending 3 or 4 days there before the cruise. Planning on doing a number, if not all, excursions on our own. Still deciding on whether to do do Tattoo or not, that will determine the time of summer we plan on taking our cruise. Will definitely rent a car in Le Herve and drive to Mont St. Michael and to some of the beaches and cemeteries. Been planning on doing this for years, but had to wait till we were old enough to afford it...lol
Shogun Posted October 3, 2014 #18 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Hi There, My advise is to pick a cruise that does the tattoo. Even if decide not to go. It will give you an overnight in port and a chance to do your own thing. The tattoo is a must see for many, if unsure watch it on YouTube and decide if its your thing, Kirkwall is a must see, no place is like it, stone circles older than Stonehenge, buildings older than the pyramid's If you need any info please ask Yours Shogun Sent from my Nexus 4 using Forums mobile app
