Vancouver and Denali questions

We will have 2 nights in Denali, any recommendations of possible night time excursions to do or places to eat near the Mt. Mckinely Chalet? And we disembark in Vancouver and staying an extra 2 nights, looking for an affordable hotel in the downtown area so we can explore the city. Any recommendations? Thanks

Your hotel is at the far end of "Glitter Gulch", which is a strip mall of shops and restaurants.There are quite a few restaurants to choose from depending on what you're looking for; from Subway to Great Alaska Fish and Chips to 49th State Brewery.

you can mention names. You just can't talk about travel agents or competitors to expedia/travelocity etc since this is their web site.

Vancouver's downtown is quite compact so all of the downtown hotels are pretty much within a mile of Canada Place. However, here is a list of many 3*+ hotels that are within 6 to 8 blocks of Canada Place:

Prospectors Pizza? is on that end of the gulch. We eaten there and enjoyed it and they have a good selection of beer.

Big thumbs up on Prospector's Pizza, and I'd stay away from Great Alaska Fish & Chips.

 

"Night time" is relative. We went on a white water rafting trip with Denali Outdoor Center (also located right in Glitter Gulch) that started at 6PM. We went the last week in August, and it was still light when we returned after 9PM. Had a great time.

I highly recommend Pan Pacific at Canada Place. We spent 4 nights there last month. You could not find a better location. :)

We just spent 2 days in Vancouver after our cruise ended there last weekend. We stayed at the Blue Horizon. Very reasonable rates at less than 200.00 a night. Large rooms and great location. We went to Capilano Suspension Bridge and it is a must do while there. Also Stanley Park. I wished we would have more time there to explore. So much to see and enjoy. We loved Vancouver.

When you're at Denali, if you're interested in sled dogs or the Iditarod go to the Husky Homestead presentation. It was fun and very interesting. Our hotel had a shuttle, so yours might also.

Actually the shuttle is operated by Husky Homestead, not the hotel. They have a good program, but there are others. The one at the park headquarters is free. There is also one run by Mike Santos called DogGoneIt a bit further south than Husky.
