krev Posted October 3, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 3, 2014 When we tested it we HAD NOT bought the Internet package yet. Like I said we had to fiddle with it a bit but it DID work. This was on Adventure out of Southampton. I can't vouch for anyone else. (I have nothing to do with the App creator!) vacation_junkie Posted October 3, 2014 #27 Share Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Curious as to when you tried it? We just got home on Sunday and it did work on Adventure Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Did not work on the Carnival Breeze (Its now confirmed (by the App creator) to be blocked on all Carnival ships) Nor the Enchantment or Oasis.. all 3 within within the past 5 weeks.. jmrothermel Posted October 6, 2014 #28 Share Posted October 6, 2014 Any recent updates of those who tried? Trying to find out if I should hustle guest services for a DECT phone or take my chances with the app. Thanks!! vacation_junkie Posted October 13, 2014 #29 Share Posted October 13, 2014 We're on EN 10/10-10/13. We'll post back with what happened.:) any success with Ripple?
Rare orville99 Posted October 13, 2014 #30 Share Posted October 13, 2014 That would be great, because we're on EN in a few weeks and it would be nice to know if it works before I waste any time on it. Ripple worked, although getting it running was a bit counter-intuitive - we were using it on our iPads, and YMMV. You need to have ripple running before you turn your wifi on (otherwise it doesn't connect). When you enable wifi and select royal-wifi, close the screen as soon as the checkmark shows up. Then open up Ripple and when the royal login screen pops up hit cancel and a dialog box will open that asks you if you want to use wifi without internet. Check that box, and ripple works. One annoying little quirk (maybe it's an iPad thing) was that we had to keep the text messages really short (~100 characters) or Ripple would truncate the message on the other iPad. aquashark Posted January 4, 2015 #31 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Are there any recent accounts of Ripple working/being blocked on RCI or Celebrity?
jmrothermel Posted January 6, 2015 #32 Share Posted January 6, 2015 It worked on Explorer in Oct (but the wifi is HORRIBLE). You have to follow the instructions posted above though - it's not easy. Also worked fine on Quantum. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare FlyerTalker Posted January 6, 2015 #33 Share Posted January 6, 2015 It also appears that the 99 cent price point has jumped up.
Calgon1 Posted January 7, 2015 #34 Share Posted January 7, 2015 What's a ' Ripple ' communicator? I prefer to keep kosher. Is there a Mad Dog 20/20 available? :D
