coolestwife Posted August 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2005 Has anyone brought their own scuba gear for excursions? Both my DSD and her BF are cretified and would like to bring whatever of their own stuff they can. I'm sure they can get air tanks from the dive opeartors, but what about the ballast weights....those would be too heavy for them to carry on the flight to/from Miami. HELP!:o
scubaman Posted August 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2005 I always bring my own scuba gear. It has never been a problem. I don't bring weights and tanks because they are provided.
aqua Posted August 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2005 My husband always brings his gear minus tanks and weights. He has never had a problem renting what he needed.
oldmedic Posted August 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2005 coolestwife, we have used three different operators in Cancun and Cozumel, we both have integrated bc's and have never had a problem with getting weights. you can tell him to bring his gear and leave the weights and tanks at home. he will be fine!! (a lot of the operators do not allow knives), but we both have paramedic ahears ann hve never had a problem getting on, off, or back off the ship with them.
