taylor1293 Posted October 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2014 We are docking in Ocho Rios. Do I have to take a tour to Dunn's River Falls or can I just get a taxi? If a taxi is acceptable, how much should I expect to pay and how do I know which taxis are reputable? Thanks! Rare Lionesss Posted October 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2014 I would do a tour. I think the taxi will be way over priced. But signs are posted at the dock, as well as private tour guides. Plus, is the cabbie going to wait for you to finish? Will you have to negotiate some type of agreement? Book a tour. Peace of mind. Sea Ya
Capt_BJ Posted October 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) all the taxi at the cruise terminal will be official "JUTA" and you get one via a dispatcher the price is fixed ... kinda high in my opinion but less than a tour ... price has always been per person IME ... price is for a round trip and yes the taxi always came back OR ... at DRF there is another dispatcher and he knows you paid for r/t. One time my ride did not show within 10 minutes and the dispatcher just put us in another car ... no charge. I take taxi to DRF ... not a tour. The driver will assume a 'tour length' p//up time - 1 climb, an hour or 90 minutes. I stay longer and tell the driver when I want to be picked up . . . the fee at DRF is one day's admission to the park - climbing is free . . . we climb several times . . . up the middle! note: applies to an OCHO port stop only. DRF is minutes from the OCHO pier and an hour from Falmouth, longer from Montego. I only visit DRF from OCHO .... not worth the drive from other IMO, but if you want to go I'd stick with a tour in this case.
