I know there has been alot of talk about this, but my husband is at the Golden level and I just called CAS to see if we can eat at Cagney's for breakfast/lunch as we will be on the Pearl next week. They told me no - that has been discontinued, but I have read that people as still eating at Cagney's and were told that the new perks don't go into effect until the new year. Has anyone got any info on this? Thanks

I was on the Gem last week, and am VIP. I got all the benefits - 5 day spa pass, Cagneys breakfast and lunch etc. I asked about the changes and the casino host told me they were on "hold" but would be going into effect at some point. she did not know when.

My parents were on the 9/27 sailing of the gem. Mom is Golden and was told she could eat in Cagneys, and all the other golden perks that were supposed to be discontinued

Just bumping this up to see if anyone has been on a cruise recently being a golden or vip and to see what the perks are. We are on the Pearl this Friday and would love to know what to expect.

On the Star on 9/22 we were told that the changes hadn't rolled-out to the Star yet, and we got Spa Passes (2 day) as expected.

We were in a suite already, so the other VIP stuff was duplicated...but we would have been entitled, had we not been entitled.

Thanks so much for your responses. I did actually email cas and I got an email back today saying that we will be receiving the perk of breakfast/lunch at Cagney's! So happy. Just amazing when I called cas they flat out told me no, and then today by email it's a yes! Roll on Friday!

Good for you. The reason is that the program is smack in the middle of changing....and I think that there's been push-back on some of the planned changes, so they may be back-tracking a bit....unofficially.

We'll have to wait until they actually announce the change, to see what the future impacts will be.

Enjoy your cruise.

Got back yesterday. Received Breakfast and Lunch in Cagney's and spa passes which I did not use. Glad to say I received everything that was Golden prior to the changes that are supposed to take place in the future. Great cruise, casino staff not the friendliest this cruise but they still took my money. LOL

I agree that the Casino staff was not very friendly - especially the people behind the desk. Some dealers were lovely....but all seemed to take lots of money from me. The small amount taken off my final bill was paltry, compared with what had been done on other ships in the last year. Nice cruise, though - we lucked out with weather.

They took much less off final bill then last cruises too. They seemed to have a different attitude this time just doing their jobs nothing more, as in the past trying to talk to you a bit. We did luck out with weather and we had a great time on thus cruise. Hope they keep the Golden status as in but I think it is about to change since they had nothing posted about the levels in the casino. I think new literature is on the way.

Did you get the haven check-in?

Did you get the haven check-in?

I was on the Star from September 22 to October 6th. They sent me to the Casino check-in. At check in I asked where the Haven check-in/waiting area was and they told me I wasn't in the Haven so sent me to Casino area to wait. I went up to Haven waiting area and the Concierge confirmed I was on his list and we moved over to the Haven area and were the first to be called on-board. You have to ask yourself as half the time if they see you're not in the Haven they refer you somewhere else. All other benefits of Golden and VIP were honored. I have a feeling whatever new 'rules' are being discussed won't happen until April 1st.

I was told to wait in CAS area that I am not on VIP list. Sine it was almost boarding time I did not make a fuss and just waited a few minutes and boarded. Once onboard I asked in Casino about Cagneys and they said they were sending my name to concierge. Seemed to me that if I did not ask thanks to CC I would not have been notified of this perk.

Harriet:

This is brand-new info for me. I've always wondered why CAS benefits state that Golden/VIP players receive priority embarkation, when I've always been given a regular boarding number and told to sit with the masses.

For some reason I found that the Epic, Breakaway, and Getaway won't allow it. On those ships you board with CAS. I simply walk into Haven waiting area and ask if I'm on the list. For all but the above three ships I have been.

  • 1 month later...
The last few cruises, Pearl and Dawn, out of Miami and Tampa, I wasn't even told to sit in the CAS boarding area (was there one?), I just sat with everyone else.

I think it would be rare you would be "told" to sit in CAS area. Actually, I think only the check in is special, seating is open.

But for checkin, they are not going to tell you, you usually have to tell them.

In NYC the lower rated CAS players, & I am assuming breakaway passengers will be in same area (I've been in suites only on the BA so I got haven area) sit in the back right side with handicapped and wedding people. It's by the food stand. If anyone asks, just flash the CAS checkin number (it says casinos at sea on it) paper they give you at check in and they will leave you alone

I'm pretty new to ncl been on 2 cruises on breakaway. This past cruise last week grace the casino manager said have a nice dinner I was like huh? I had made reservations at Tepanyaki when I got to the restaurant to check in they said the casino is picking up dinner for me and DH and a bottle of wine. I also received strawberrys in my cabin. I'm a mediocre player. Next May I will make hot level I'm 350 pts away. Will they up my status when I make the next level during the cruise? I'm sure hot level doesn't really have any perks. Grace was really nice though she always new my name and was very pleasant.

The casino staff and drink servers on the BA in June were excellent. I had Clarissa come over every time I hit a new tier I went from lucky to hot to golden on that cruise, Because I had to start over. They will give you your new tier card and 5000 points.

On the BA in June we were escorted over to the CAS seating area after check in.

Boarded after suite guest. I hope that it is still the same in two weeks.
