mwlillie Posted October 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Today is the 4th day in a row I've called Carnival to pre-pay gratuities on the two cabins for our December cruise. And today is the 4th time in a row I've spent over 30 minutes waiting for someone to pick up the freaking phone at Carnival after being placed on hold. What is going on there? Is it a shortage of people, or maybe do they need to upgrade their voice response system. Edited October 10, 2014 by mwlillie
hbrote Posted October 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2014 I would really get a PVP. They will handle every thing
Mutumbojimbo Posted October 10, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Sorry for your frustration. It seems like if they can sell you spa treatments, liquor, and shore excursions on the website, it shouldn't be too hard to let you pay your gratuities on line which would alleviate this problem. Hang in there!
Herbaltees Posted October 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Which number are you calling? And when? During the day I use the 1800 764 number on their website and select option 4, never more than a 1min wait. At night, I use the call me now feature, never more than a 1 min hold time. marshhawk Posted October 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2014 I thought you could prepay your gratuities on line, problem is I dont know where that option is. Sorry about the lack of service, I have never had that problem.
mwlillie Posted October 10, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Just hung up again after waiting 52 minutes on hold. This is the fifth time I've called 1.800.764.7419 and still haven't spoken to someone to pre-pay my gratuities. I, after posting this. will be writing a very harsh letter to Carnival about their lackluster customer support.

I just called them about an hour ago and only waited a moment or two. You can pay your gratuities on line also. 52 Minutes? I would have hung up after 5. Anyislandwilldo Posted October 10, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Hit the button that asks if you are ready to book a cruise, I'm sure you will get a fast response on that button.
sotuffexecutive Posted October 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 11, 2014 They must be swamped. I have not had time to call and sent 2 emails. I did not expect an immediate answer however a reply recognizing that they even received the email and would get back to me in XXX days would have been nice. karron Posted October 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 11, 2014 The only time you can prepay gratuities online is when you first book your cruise; otherwise you have to call them. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Assuming you added a credit card number to your account when you booked and/or completed online check-in, just let them charge your gratuities to your credit card at the conclusion of your cruise. Before you sail, pay that amount on your credit card. Bingo...pre-paid gratuities with no hold time! Edited October 11, 2014 by Badfinger
