cocoabeana Posted October 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2014 (edited) Ok, so I have roughly 130000 points to redeem for obc on my next cruise. I want to use them for whatever I want. Spa, drinks etc. But should I have some obc left, is it true that theywill apply the extra money back to my credit card? Is this something that will be done automatically or will I have to stand in line at guest relations the morning of disembarkment to get this done? I need all the information you all have on this. I want to self embark and don't want to have to worry about this. Thanks in advance for your help Edited October 18, 2014 by cocoabeana
JasonV1 Posted October 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2014 If you get a refund on the ship to your card you'll get double the points subtracted. Not a huge deal since you are redeeming them all, but they will leave you with a negative point balance that you'll have to make up before you leave. If that is the plan, use a non rewards card for onboard purchases so the credit doesn't "cost" you anything.

I discovered that we had not used about $35.00 of that OBC and it was credited back to my CC.
cocoabeana Posted October 20, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Jason, I am confused by what you are saying. We have about 1300.00 in points that we can use for OBC. If I have 200 left at the end of the cruise, they will just put the money on my credit card, correct? Can I use the obc to take money out to use in the casino? Just not sure I should redeem all my points. This may be my last cruise for a couple of years, so I was planning on using all the points.

We just got back from the Brilliance today and my mom had redeemed a bunch of points for OBC. She was able to get cash back at guest relations for the excess OBC and was not charged a fee. Not sure what Jason is saying.
ocean waves Posted October 20, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2014 There is no charge if you use Obc in the casino. It's just like making a purchase on the ship. If you withdraw money against your credit card there is a fee from the casino and the credit card company Sent from my iPad using Forums
