Rare aubreyc1988 Posted October 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2014 Do these exist? My Christmas plans have fallen through and I will be moving to Dallas so I would be within driving distance to a few ports (So wouldnt have to pay for expensive flights) Has anyone ever seen really good deals for from Dec 22nd thru Jan3rd? PCLMassachusetts Posted October 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2014 I have not. In fact, I am booked on the Dec 28th sailing of the Dawn and have been waiting for a price drop to possibly upgrade. Hasn't happened yet. I'm guessing those are popular weeks and most ships sail pretty close to capacity without the need for last minute deals.

xcell Posted October 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2014 No - same as santa and toothfairy...all in our imaginations. I just thought the same and ended up paying a lot more $$$$ than if I had booked a few months back. Oh well...lesson learned..
Rare conandrob240 Posted October 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2014 It is very rare that that week would come down in price closer to travel. It starts high and only goes higher typically.
garycarla Posted October 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Supply and demand. High demand, means higher prices.
mdwcruises Posted October 20, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Not sure about NCL but Oasis of the seas is only 1859$ for a JS for Xmas week. I thought that was a great price for that week.
pe4all Posted October 20, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Our Epic balcony has gone up a couple of hundred dollars since we booked months ago. There seem to be plenty of cabins still available, so maybe the price will drop a bit. (though it is past final payment, and price usually goes down then, and it went up instead!) Kruzer Zuker Posted October 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2014 They do have price drops occasionally but you have to check every day. Don't give up hope. However I find Houston more expensive than average.
CP Tech Posted October 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2014 The price for our balcony cabin on the Getaway x-mas week has gone up almost $1000 for 2 people since we booked 9 months ago.
cliffd64 Posted October 20, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Generally speaking... holiday week cruises tend to be more expensive... especially Christmas and New Year. Any time kids are out of school the price tends to be higher.
nets33 Posted October 20, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Our eleven day on the Pearl over Christmas / New Years has doubled in price for our balcony cabin. We booked in December of last year and got a great deal but have continued to monitor prices. So far it's gone only up up up!
sail2sea Posted October 21, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 21, 2014 Looking for a deal myself. Not easy, but not impossible.
old sole Posted October 21, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) Our eleven day on the Pearl over Christmas / New Years has doubled in price for our balcony cabin. We booked in December of last year and got a great deal but have continued to monitor prices. So far it's gone only up up up! This is one Christmas sailing that has had some price drops. Just today, the lowest category inside was reduced to $2,099 per person according to the fish site..:eek::eek: Edited October 21, 2014 by old sole
Rare aubreyc1988 Posted October 21, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted October 21, 2014 Yeah I doubt I'm going to get a good enough deal for me to justify it. I really wanted to do a Christmas cruise over new years again!
GORDONCHICK Posted October 21, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 21, 2014 Let me put it to you like this: our 2013 Christmas cruise in the lowest inside category was more expensive than our balcony (BA category) for Thanksgiving this year. The problem with waiting for a good deal is if there are cabins available, the would be in the least desirable locations. Also, in very few instances would you be able to have more than 2 people in a cabin - even there are berths for more people.

But yeah, its so pricey I don't think it would be worth it. Only reason why I consider it is because of our 2week extra vacay during this time of year
