Inside with Walkway view?

4J's are a great compromise from a balcony. Not as private or convenient as a balcony, but the views from the forward deck can't be beat. The wind can be hit or miss also. Can be challenging fun to be out there in the wind, but when the wind is not blowing hard, which is the case more times than not, well, at least thats been our experience, that forward deck is a great place to watch the ocean go by....

 

Perfect! We probably just won't bring our son out on that deck unless we're in port. :)

My sister and her husband had one of these cabins on a family cruise a while back. The room is pretty cramped, but it has lots of light during the day. At night, folks on the walkway can see into your room if your drapes are not closed.

 

The "walkway" is windy while the ship is moving, but pleasant while you're in port.

 

And, of course, your plan gets you two cabins, which means two bathrooms, which is a very nice thing for a multigenerational group.

 

ALthough the cabins are small, it will feel roomier than stuffing all four of you into an outside or balcony cabin.

 

From what I've seen the two center rooms I have on hold are the same size as our balcony, but the two on either side of those ones are a bit smaller. :)

 

I think we'll probably just use the "walkway" after arriving somewhere and before leaving for the most part.

 

Yes, two bathrooms is definitely nice! I just don't see all 4 of us squished into one room being very cozy and honestly pricing for two 4J's or all 4 in a balcony is what justified the cost to me. It's not all that different.

I love the 4J cabins!! Nana is in a wheelchair and we always book these for her.

 

In September, we had a sleeps 4 with a couch and one upper. For three of us in the cabin, we had them make the upper, leaving us the couch for sitting. It was cabin 10203 on the MAGIC.

 

Last January, we were on the TRIUMPH with a 4j. I'll go look for photos!

Cabin 10203, Lido Deck, Deck 10. This is a 4J cabin.

 

It's in the interior category and price range, so it's just a little less than an oceanview -- but there are fully accessible cabins for wheelchairs!!! When I don't travel with Nana, I love balconies and these 4Js. There are some 4Js that are not reserved for wheelchairs, so always look for them!!!

 

This shows the sofa being made as a bed. We asked Gugum to changed it to make the bunk (upper) a bed, so we would have the sofa... I'll have more photos later.

 

 

The window looks out over a deck over the bow. People walk by the window and could look in, but they'd have to cup their hands to see in in the daylight.

From outside, this is what you can see in, during the day. You can see her suntan lotion on the window sill -- but only our reflection, not into the cabin.

 

 

And when I cup my hands around the lens and purposefully look in, you can just barely see Nana's head.

The hallway to the bathroom -- we use a shoe bag outside the bathroom door to hold more things as the cruise goes on!

These are GREAT pics and thank you for sharing, but I do not want the OP to be confused. There are a couple of 4J's that are handicapped accessible....The pics you show are different than the regular 4J's.

We are just back from a Freedom cruise, Deck 7 4J. The entrance into the room was quite narrow compared to a regular interior room and not as deep closets. The window was ok but we hardly ever had the drapes open during the day and mandatory closed at night. There was no wind noises but late at night we could hear alarm noises from the bridge right above us...very faint and not an issue. Floor space seemed the same as a standard interior room. Price booked was the same as a regular interior room so we thought we would try it. Final thought was there was no big advantage to booking the 4J room for us.

Hi Bigeee67. I will be having one of these 4j rooms on the Freedom next month. Is there a couch or not? I thought there was not one, but there seem to be conflicting reports. Did you find that there was much traffic outside on the walkway during the day? and was there any seating beside the wooden bench? Thanks for any info. How was the cruise otherwise? I am starting to get excited now about cruising next month. Just over three weeks away:)

Be careful if you see a * marked inside a cabin number when looking for a HC 4J these beds do not go together-- and the cabin is VERY small

Thank you! I ended up booking yesterday. The two rooms I booked aren't HC though. I've read we will have couches though b/c I booked the center two rooms despite the description saying otherwise, lol.

I can't see these pictures and I am booked on the Dream in Cabin 10203! Is there anyway that I can get some pictures of that cabin? That would be awesome!!!! :)

We were in one on Triumph on Deck 6 (6206)and we did not have a couch only a roll away for the 3rd person, and the beds did not go together. I have booked 1004 on the Triumph for next March and it appears to have a small couch and is a much larger room from the pix I can find.

Im not sure how 7203 on the Triumph is, but on the Freedom, 7203 does not have a couch. It looked just like Jamman's photo. I loved that room though:)

We cruised with our daughter when she was two and she loooooved being on the open high decks at night time and feeling the wind. I think that area right there will be a great option for your son to get a little run around time before going to bed. We also cruised when our youngest was two and had a balcony and it was a little nerve wracking. He was a little dare devil.

 

As far as cruising with a toddler two of the best ideas I have seen are #1 bring a really little inflatable pool to put in the shower on the floor so he can have a bath. Trying to give a toddler a shower in those silly cruise ship showers means the entire room gets a bath! LOL And #2 Pack each of his outfits including socks in gallon sized Ziploc bags. Makes it much easier to find their clothes when you can just pull a bag out of a drawer and BONUS if they make a mess you have a Ziploc bad to put the clothes in when you have to change him. The plastic bags are easy to take on a beach outing too as then you can assure you have a clean outfit with no sand in it to change them into.
