WeirdEyes Posted May 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2004 I need some help, please. I sweat really bad and am having problems finding deoderants that actually assist me while I'm working out or in the hot sun. I've tried Secret Platinum Gel & Lady Speed Stick Gel, but they don't work well. I prefer a gel because it doesn't stain my clothes. Can anyone suggest a deoderant that actually works for women that sweat a lot or will have I have to start using men's? Thanks so much and sorry if I grossed anybody out. pattigay Posted May 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Try Mitchum for women. It's a clear gel and comes with or w/o fragrance. The best I've ever found.
WeirdEyes Posted May 18, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Thanks Patti! I read up on the Maxim stuff and I don't have excessive sweating...just sweat a lot when I workout and am in the hot sun for a long time. I never wet my clothes though. I'll try the Mitchum and see if it helps. roni Posted May 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2004 I have used Mitchum since high school (i.e, a long time!!). It's the only thing that works for me. I have used the gel, but usually I use the roll on. If I get white stuff on dark tops, I just wipe it off with a damp cloth. I highly recommend Mitchum. WeirdEyes Posted May 18, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Thanks Roni! I checked with my Mom and she uses Mitchum also...says it's the only one that works for her also. Happy ks Posted May 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2004 I have used good old Ban roll on for so many years, I can't remember. I never have any wetness or staining and I always get the unscented so I don't have to smell phony perfumes. Kathy
missyal Posted May 19, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 19, 2004 There is a prescription strength anti-persperant that is now available over the counter. It's called Drysol. It is very strong, and after a few uses, you can even skip a day and it is effective. Keep in mind there is a difference between 'deoderants' and 'anti-persperants'. One stops the wetness, the other just masks odor. Hope this helps. Missyal

parothead Posted May 19, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 19, 2004 just another little deodorant tip, don't buy a trial size of something you have never used to take on vacation.i did and it smelled worse than going without. try it out before you leave home. lunyma Posted May 19, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 19, 2004 I agree about the Lady Mitchum. I have not only been using it for years, but my DH, who can sweat like a pig, also uses LADY Mitchum! roni Posted May 19, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 19, 2004 I use the regular Mitchum. When I started using it, I don't think there was a "Lady" version or maybe I just never saw it. At this point, 18 years later, I'm probably not going to switch When I first read this thread, I didn't make the connection about deodorant as opposed to anti-perspirant. There is definitely a difference. I started using Mitchum due to the wetness from sweating, not the odor. So I can't really comment on how effective it is for odor control. I'm only stinky after I work out and sweat profusely all over
bonnie cruiser Posted May 29, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 29, 2004 I swear by Degree anti-perspirant. I did pick up a trial size one time to have in my luggage and have been using it exclusively ever since. I too have always sweated a lot. Now the hot flashes add to the problem. For years I had large, pendulous breasts and the Degree even worked under them. I use one that is white but goes on clear and I never have any problem with white streaks on my clothes. shawilson Posted May 30, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 30, 2004 Another vote for Mitchum for Women Powder Fresh Clear Gel. I actually posted here asking the same question. Thanks to this board, my teenager took their recommendation and started using it. She loves it and reports no more "armpit floods". It is both an anti-perspirant and deodorant. Coolmama_1 Posted May 31, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 31, 2004 My husband and I both use Cool Confidence by Avon. It is the only one that he has not complained about and works for both of us. Judy Cruisin in July on the Golden Princess

TNT Posted June 21, 2004 #21 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Try Certain-Dri. My husband swears by the stuff and he's tried EVERYTHING! You put in on at night before you go to bed. We have never found it at Wal-Mart, but we do find it at drug stores. About $5.00 a bottle. He could never wear anything but light colored shirts before he found this stuff. Colors showed "rings" to bad. A pharmacist friend of ours recommended it. Tiiiigergirl Posted June 21, 2004 #22 Share Posted June 21, 2004 I've actually found that it doesn't matter as much what I use as much as changing brands often. It helps me. I also have to use two different tubes of deodorant at once. I do recommend Mitchum, though. But even all by itself it stopped working until I traded out and combined it with other brands. I had huge "glowing" problems in high school. I'm talking sweat circles almost down to my waist in some outfits. I wanted to die since the worst outfit was my choral dress for a special music group I was in. pcur Posted June 22, 2004 #23 Share Posted June 22, 2004 Off Topic: Obviously, WeirdEyes, you've noticed NOBODY was grossed out by your question....there is no such thing. Over on the RCI board, a woman started a thread about why she has her period everytime she cruises, and warned on the thread title for women only. She had guys thanking us for the thread, because it wandered off into menopause, and these guys were getting an education. You just never know. Where did you get the board name "WeirdEyes"? I think it's cool. Peggy - RCI since 1973

WeirdEyes Posted June 29, 2004 Author #25 Share Posted June 29, 2004 Hi ladies! I have FINALLY found a deoderant that works!! Yippie!! From your suggestions, I tried Mitchum, then Arrid (sp?) Extra Dry, and then Degree for Women in Sheer Powder. Mitchum was ok, the Arrid even better, but the Degree works like a charm. The Arrid and the Degree are in the aerosol cans. I haven't used an aerosol in years and I like it much better. Peggy, thanks for thinking my screen name is cool. :) I picked it because my eyes are blue/green and they change colors depending on my mood & what I'm wearing. When I was about 13, I met a guy who immediately said to me, "You have some weird colored eyes!" LOL I also thought it would be a different name. ;)
