MeditStPetersb Posted August 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Am I correct that this is the hotel area? Are there parasailing and jet ski rentals along this beach or at certain hotels? Yes, there are hotels next to the Condado beaches. There is a 3 star Condado Plaza and casino, and also a 4 star SJ Marriott resort and Stellaris Casino, both of which are waterfront and have 24 hour casinos and parasailing and jet ski rentals nearby. One should book an oceanfront balcony room, rate was very reasonable (in SJ) at 180-300 USD (depending on the hotel); view was worth it! Jet ski rate was about the same as most other destinations. maxs mom Posted August 25, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2005 San Juan is one of our ports of call. If we want to go to the Condado beaches, where do we tell the taxi driver to take us.....or if we ride the bus.....where do we get off? Can you just walk through a resort and use their facilities? What have others done? Which area is best?
Karencruiser43 Posted August 25, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2005 I have read that the beach at Isle Verde is the place to go if you wish to spend the day at the beach as the beaches in Condado aver very rocky and have seaweed. Don't know how true this is, but these are from the boards. I am going pre-cruise to San Juan next April and plan to go to the beach at Isle Verde rather than Condado. Good luck! Don't know how true this is, but these are from the boards. I am going pre-cruise to San Juan next April and plan to go to the beach at Isle Verde rather than Condado. Good luck! It is true that in general the beach at Isla Verde is more sandy white. The cab fare from the pier to Isla Verde costs 16USD. You can ask the cab driver to take you to the beach right in front of the Embassy Suites, Intercontinental, Wyndham, Ritz Carlton in Isla Verde. The beach right in front of the Marriott Resort and Stelaris in Condado is not bad, but more crowded and have lots of activities, as it is closer to the pier and downtown (cab ride from pier to Condado costs 10USD). Just for comparison, cost of cab ride from pier to Old San Juan costs 6USD. The larger hotels have 24 hour casinos, live Latin entertainment in the lounge, and many beachfront restaurants...There are also watersports equipment for rentals on the beach. San Juan is a very beautiful place, have fun!
