Ship time?

Does Celebrity change the ship time to match the local time? I know different cruise lines do it differently. Princess changes the time to match the time zone, but Carnival doesn't. I haven't cruised Celebrity before so I don't know. We will be in St. Thomas from 8 - 5. Trying to find out it that is the actual local time. Thanks.

Ship time is totally up to the Captain... And when they decide to change it, if at all.

When we were on The Solstice (Jan 2012) out of Fort Lauderdale, we stayed on Eastern Standard Time the entire cruise even tho were were visiting islands on Atlantic Standard Time (Puerto Rico - Sint Maarten / St Martin - St Thomas)

We thought about this afterwards, and realized that the Capt may have done this very much intentionally... So no one would be late / miss the ship while in Port (ie Ship Sails at 5:00 Eastern... Someone gets confused and shows up at the ship for 5:00 local time, and they are actually an hour early)

As a result, we sailed on time the whole week !!

Cheers!
