That is a shame. The portion of the river between Lyon and just south of Condrieu (a bit south of Vienne) is the prettiest portion of the river, imo. Weather wise this is usually a risky time to go to Burgundy, you're just getting it a little worst than normal.

After traveling with Viking for 5 previous cruise, this was the worst cruise that I ever took with them. It is so unfortunate that the crew on the Hermod was so inexperienced. The Buri was a little better. I think it may be time to look at other companies.

In my write up of my Sept cruise on the Heimdahl , I reported about the huge turnover in crew that was occurring at that time. Many of the crew were first timers. I don't know the circumstances of these river cruises, but high staff turnover seems to be a continual problem. Unlike ocean cruises where the crew may be in far away ports, it's very easy for the crew to just walk away here. I wonder how many times a typical Viking ship is turning over its crew in any given year?
