bassfisherman Posted November 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2014 We will be in Cork for one day in September 2015 and would like to do a day excursion other than going to Blarney Castle and the Woolen Mills. Prefer something not as touristy. Are there any tour companies that often smaller tours of this type? Thank you in advance for any assistance. s1amblue Posted November 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Go to tours by locals - took a great tour - room for 8, filled it up from our CC thread - Ray W was our guide, terrific! Went to Kinsale, Charles Fort - he will personalize the trip for you! No Blarney castle for us.... kerryincork Posted November 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2014 I live in Cork if you have kids you could take them to fota wildlife park. If you dock in Cobh you catch the train next to the ship. It's just 10 min away. If no kids just get off at the same spot and walk to fota house and gardens. The gardens are free and you pay to tour the house. They also have a nice cafe in the house for refreshments. If you want to go further afield you can also reach midleton (jameson whisky tour) or the city - cork gaol I've taken many visitors to all of these locations and they found them to be very interesting. They are also easy and fairly cheap (Compared to ship excursions) I think it would cost you €20 each to do these tours maybe €30 to do cork gaol.
