Suzerstar Posted August 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2005 Did anyone ever see any water snakes or crocodiles, etc. while cave tubing??? I booked with Yhony in October and cannot stop wondering...
chellencrette Posted August 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2005 I was in Belize 2 weeks ago and went cave tubing. Didn't see any snakes, crocodiles, or other creatures along the way. The only thing you will see are bats asleep in holes in the top of the caves. But they don't bother you. Cave tubing is a great experience you will soon not forget!!! We also went with Yhony and they are excellent. Have fun!!!
Susky Posted August 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2005 You don't have to worry about snakes.

taillon Posted August 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2005 We didn't see any creatures, other than the few sleeping bats already mentioned and some minnows. On land we did see two different species of lizards. Nothing scary at all. The water is crystal clear, by the way, you would see a creature if they were there.:)
Maggie01 Posted August 23, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2005 We were there in April and we did see a snake while in the water...but we didn't bother the snake and the snake didn't bother us...
runner15km Posted August 24, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Can snakes bite while swimming? Only if the snake and the human swim into each other. A snake can raise its body 1/4 to 1/3 of its length from the water surface using water tension, but water tension is insufficient for a coiling strike or for jumping into boats. Snakes usually flee humans, both in and out of the water. I would be more concern about the bus ride to the cave then even seeing a snake.
fsnyds Posted August 24, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2005 The water was running pretty good last week when we were there, the guides did get the same question and said that there were snakes in the jungle but the amimals stuck to still waters, ponds... we didn't see anything, but it was dark. DEL67 Posted August 30, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2005 We were there last week also. We saw bats in the dry cave and termites during the walk to the cave tubing start point and small fish in the water, but no snakes.
