Snakes while cave tubing....

I was in Belize 2 weeks ago and went cave tubing. Didn't see any snakes, crocodiles, or other creatures along the way. The only thing you will see are bats asleep in holes in the top of the caves. But they don't bother you. Cave tubing is a great experience you will soon not forget!!! We also went with Yhony and they are excellent. Have fun!!!

We didn't see any creatures, other than the few sleeping bats already mentioned and some minnows.

On land we did see two different species of lizards. Nothing scary at all.

The water is crystal clear, by the way, you would see a creature if they were there.:)

Can snakes bite while swimming?

Only if the snake and the human swim into each other. A snake can raise its body 1/4 to 1/3 of its length from the water surface using water tension, but water tension is insufficient for a coiling strike or for jumping into boats. Snakes usually flee humans, both in and out of the water. I would be more concern about the bus ride to the cave then even seeing a snake.

The water was running pretty good last week when we were there, the guides did get the same question and said that there were snakes in the jungle but the amimals stuck to still waters, ponds... we didn't see anything, but it was dark. FS
