taxi prices, fort lauderdale

Hi, plan on staying Nov 30th for one night somewhere in the Fort Lauderdale beach area. Has anyone recently taken a cab from the airport to a hotel in that vicinity, and then again the next day to the Port? Curious on the fees, as I am now talking with hotels and getting their shuttle fees of approximately $18 for two people, from airport and then again to port. Any recent experiences is appreciated! Not stuck on the beach area for a hotel either, not arriving till about 4:30 pm day before cruise.

Not sure where you plan to stay, so our experience might not apply. We usually stay in the Dania Beach area, and the taxi to the port runs $20 to $25.

We also recently stayed in Dania beach area (no beach)

we arrived later in the day so took the FREE airport shuttle from the airport next day the shuttle to the port was $5 pp

 

Some hotels charge anywhere from $5-8 pp for the port shuttle

Taxi's are all metered, so depending on distance and time, you pay what's on the meter +tip

We stayed at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort earlier this month. The cost from FLL to the hotel was $22.90 + a $3 fee that was added. Then you will add a tip onto that. We did not have that fee when returning to the airport. We did not go to the port so I can't tell you that price. We returned from a cruise ending in Miami and took a shuttle to the FLL and then the taxi to the hotel.

on another note. Does anyone know if there is a wine store on the way to Port from FLL ? will the cabbie stop for me?

msweezie, we stayed at the Roadway Inn and Suites in Fort Lauderdale in February and they provided a free shuttle from airport to hotel and free shuttle to the cruise ship in the morning. Breakfast was also included. Better than our previous stay at the Travel lodge.

Total Wine, Harbor Shops, off 17th St., right on the way to the port.

 

Check out their website http://www.totalwine.com. You can place your order and pay for it online so the taxi wait is about 5 minutes. We've done this several times.

The Fort Lauderdale beach is about 8 miles long, and traffic is heavier in the evening than in the daytime, so taxi prices will vary between $20 and $40 per ride.
