39august Posted November 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2014 I know some ccer's live in or near Galveston. This is my question to those familiar with the streets to the cruise pier. I know the best way to avoid traffic is to go down Broadway to either 21st or 22nd street. Which one is it please?

Galveston Cruiser Posted November 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Broadway, left on 22nd or go to 21st then left on Harborside to turn right into port. Sometimes this is faster due traffic back up. Edited November 25, 2014 by Galveston Cruiser

ssb Posted November 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) see maps on galveston.com/interact and discover/maps Galveston Island Map PDF Houston Map PDF TO DROP OFF PASSENGERS Long lines can be horrible on Sunday's with two ships in Galveston. The long lines are created when you follow signage on Highway off I45 at beginning of causeway over West Galveston Bay, Signage advises you to take exit to access Cruise Terminals at Harborside. And when you arrive ar terminals, the entry at terminals off Harborside is a single left turn into terminals. STAY OFF Harborside completely Stay on 45 straight into town which turns into Broadway. Go to 22nd and turn left and go to and cross over (not on) Harborside into Terminals OR go further on Broadway to 21st or 20th etc. and turn left and then go to and then left on Harborside, and turn right at 22nd to enter terminals from opposite direction. Signage is non existent but access into terminals at 22nd and Harborside (Fishermans Wharf Restaurant) The long lines into terminals on Harborside from west also blocks exiting traffic from terminals for a double barrel effect. Its a major problem. With 12 million improvements starting next week to terminal #2 at PORT of Galveston, the Port is also promising to change and hopefully improve ingress and egress off Haborside with terminals #1&2. Improvements to terminal are to be finished by summer 2015! And before Liberty arrives in November 2015. Edited November 25, 2014 by ssb
BallFour4 Posted December 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2014 29 cruises from Galveston and no "horrible" stories. How's that? Arrive early. If you can't then exit Harborside, go past the entry to the terminal and make a U turn, drop the family off and go park. If not, then do the Broadway trick. Within 20 min of Galveston are over 200 hotels with a huge range of pricing. Come down the night before! If you pass Bay Area Blvd honk, I we might have the grill going. .
