nyc2theworld Posted November 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) How does time work on a Trans Atlantic cruise (specifically Westbound) since that's what I'm booked on when you are constantly changing timezones? Sauer-kraut Posted November 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2014 You change the clocks almost every night. Since you're westbound you'll gain an hour every day.... you'll have a lot of time to enjoy everything. They will leave a card on your bed when the time does change. I love transatlantics .... They are a way to totally unwind, and you don't feel the rush rush rush to cram everything in.
Rare Turtles06 Posted November 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2014 As noted above -- you'll be turning the clocks back one hour nearly every night, making for 25-hour days. Quite wonderful. We've sailed TAs in both directions and much prefer westbound for the longer days. Enjoy your crossing!
kpms Posted November 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2014 We sailed from Southampton to NYC on the Breakaway ... Was awesome to have 25 hour days! You really get to unwind and just relax. Would love to do it again Sent from my iPad using Forums
Raleigh Traveler Posted November 26, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2014 Just did a TA from Copenhagen to Miami. The time difference from Europe to the east coast is 6 hours, spread over 14 days of travel. It is great to get an extra hour, one at a time. But it isn't every day. We left Copenhagen and stopped in Azores and then St Thomas. So it doesn't change much the first 5 days or the last 5 days, its the middle four that change almost nightly while you shoot across the pond. The staff jokes that we get an extra "free" 6 hours of cruising. Best thing is there is no jet lag on arrival.
Heisler123 Posted November 26, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2014 We have done 4 TA's and just love them. I love gaining the extra hour. The sea days are so relaxing and we really havent' had any really rough days. Enjoy!!
