Cashing OBC at the casio?

On our upcoming cruise we will have far more OBC from Celebrity than we can use (lucky us!). I've read here that we can cash it in at the casino for a 5% charge.

Can the casino cashier check our account or do we need to get a statement from the purser's office, or do we just tell the cashier how much cash we want?

(Sorry about the misspelling in the title; it won't let me correct. the shame....)

We looked at our account on our room tv. Then went to the casino and told them how much cash we wanted. We did $100. I'm not sure if there is a minimum or maximum that you can draw from your account.

Just tell the cashier how much you want. I believe the fee is only 3%.

The fee used to be 3% but it is now 5%.

Just go to the cashier and say "I would like $ xxx in cash" to which he/she will say "there is a 5% fee for that" and your SeaPass account will be debited accordingly.

You could do this even with no OBC at all in your account, if you wanted cash.

They will not look on your account. It really doesn't matter to them whether you have OBC or not.

To save the fee, setup your sea pass card as a cash account. I do this all the time, then I put on a credit card one of the last few nights.

How do you set up a cash account? When you check in do you have to give a cash deposit and if so how much? When you move over to a credit card, do they give you your cash deposit back?

Any help would be appreciated

Check with guest relations to see if you have OBC R (refundable) or OBC N (non refundable) first. You may be surprised and get it back on your card.

I believe this is the correct answer. In speaking with my TA, I asked about using OBC at the casino. I was told that his portion was refundable OBC which was paid for, so it should be refundable (or usable at the casino). However, X's part of the OBC is not refundable. My TA was not certain if the X portion of the OBC could be used at the casino.

Maybe someone here has tried this?

Refundable means, back onto your card

Non refundable can be taken out at the Casino for a 5% fee. Make sure you do it before the casino closes. On some cruises it is not open on the last night.

We always thought it went back on our card but when we debarked the Equinox in Nov DH had the nasty buzz instead of the normal ding and he had to return to Guest Relations to take the remaining balance of our OBC in cash! I don't know if this is a new procedure or not but we will check before hand next time for sure.

It's gone back on our card a few times. Maybe they had a problem with the card, and you had a "cash" account with plenty of OBC.

Just back from Reflection, you can setup a cash account online for your checkin docs, or change at the pier. You do not have to put cash down as a deposit, after you reach a specific limit. You will be notified to pay, with cash or credit card. I think the limit was $500. I have in the past, just go down and place a credit card on file the last day, and never have an issue.
