SuperPowers Posted December 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2014 Hello, I am looking into sailing from Florida on a Caribbean cruise in July or August 2015. And I noticed that the MSC Divina is an option for me being it sails from Miami. What are it's entertainment options comparing to say a Carnival cruise? Does it have a vibrant night life? How old is the crowd? etc. Anyways if you have sailed Divina and you have something to say about her go ahead and reply to this thread! Thanks!! MsTabbyKats Posted December 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2014 The entertainment in the theatre was excellent. The musicians/singers in the lounges were excellent. The passengers were all ages....but more younger than senior. It wasn't like a Carnival Cruise....more sophisticated crowd. There was nightly dancing in one of the lounges....but I was too busy in the casino.

FTLcruisers Posted December 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2014 entertainment is much different than on other cruiselines. for instance, they did an afternoon matinee and they performed an opera (shortened version). They do not have guest performers come on board - the entertainment cast is quite large and each night, a variety of them perform that evening's show. We thought the shows were really good and most nights we wished the performances were longer than the standard 45-55 minutes. Marianne
camofwilliamsburg Posted December 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 15, 2014 There is no comparing! MSC has the most theatrical performances ever seen on a cruise ship. Also, outside of the theater, the live music is all over the ship. In at least 3 areas there are bands to dance to. Then in the atrium , classical music and some singers. The singers in the show are not kids singing. It is not like a high school production as so many other cruise ship production shows are. These are talented singers that give me goose bumps listening to. The opera night is a feast for the senses. I use to hate opera. But their show is wonderful. To hear those types of voices on a ship and to see the beautiful costumes on the dancers is incredible. The dancing behind the singers were spell binding. The main shows, Pirates( my favorite), Wonderland, Witches of Paris were full theaterical shows with lighting, dancing, singing and surprises of body contortionists, acrobatics and more. The tribute to Micheal Jackson was like being at a concert. The Sinatra night was exceptional also...fabulous singers and dancers. They play trivia many times a day and unlike other lines, the prizes are the best of cruise junk. Hats, t shirts, back packs are among the top prizes. The ship is stunningly beautiful. ENJOY! Rare DENIE Posted December 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 17, 2014 The shows were great! The featured singers were like listening to Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, or Sarah Brightman. We never tired of listening to them. Another place we hung out was the La Luna Piano Lounge, where "Ameritalian" (Greg and Sonia) entertained us every night. Not sure how long they will be there, but they are not to be missed. Lots of variety from Beatles to Andrew Lloyd Weber (Sonia has a wonderful "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"). This husband/wife team are very personable and do such a wide variety. Awesome! We miss them...
Rare skyking Posted December 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2014 The shows on the Divina were simply incredible, for the first time in my cruise history I actually looked forward to the shows each night. Do NOT miss the Michael Jackson show, I still love looking at the video I took of it. The night life is also great, lots going on, the disco was hopppping, but not until much later, around midnight or so. Dont pass up the great deal on the Divina, she is a true gem in the Caribbean. camofwilliamsburg Posted December 17, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 17, 2014 It has taken me over 5 years of posting against all the negative to encourage cruisers to sail on MSC. MSC is a diamond in the Caribbean for sure. It makes me so happy that so many are now singing its praises.
Rare DENIE Posted December 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 23, 2014 Camofwilliamsburg.....so glad we ignored the bad reviews. Yes, Divina is a gem! Would love to sail again...
weltek Posted December 29, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Not really adding anything useful here, but after seeing the Divinia from afar in Miami, and hearing a young couple in port sing its praises, I'm letting go of my previous MSC negative notions (mostly fueled by early 00's reviews). They talked about how they appreciated the international flair and beauty of the ship. In the next few years we are branching out to some new lines for variety, and I will consider MSC. sagajam Posted December 30, 2014 #13 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Hello, is there any bar with rock/pop music on Divina? It seems like there is lots of jazz and classical music available but I am more rock/pop guy myself. Thanks
camofwilliamsburg Posted December 31, 2014 #14 Share Posted December 31, 2014 There is music all over. Deck parties too. DJ at the disco is the best.Usually crowded since the Europeans and Latin Americans love to dance. Make some requests if you require certain music.
