Indy--free steam rooms & showers?

We were on Jewel in July 2013 and the steam/sauna were free. I was on Allure in summer 2014 and would not pay to use the steam/sauna in the spa.....I felt that was the wrong thing for Royal to do. I have heard all the reasons/excuses and none of them are acceptable to me to have turned them into a 'for fee' option. At the end of my Allure cruise, I realized that I did not even MISS using them.

This is cut/pasted from my posting in the Fitness and Spa section.

The information is from an inquiry I sent to Miami asking about the spa facilities on each ship. Their reply did not quote prices for the paid areas on the ships that have those.

I had asked about free facilities, and what areas were co-ed and what were separate.

Oasis Class ships only have the paid spa area.

The Freedom Class ships all have separate, not co-ed, complimentary steam and dry sauna in the locker areas.

The Voyager Class ships all have separate, not co-ed, complimentary steam and dry sauna in the locker areas.

The Radiance Class ships:

The Brilliance, the Radiance, and the Serenade all have separate, not co-ed complimentary steam and dry sauna in the locker areas.

The Jewel is now charging a fee for use of the area that used to be complimentary.

The Vision Class ships:

The Grandeur, the Legend, the Rhapsody, and the Vision all have separate, not co-ed, complimentary steam and dry sauna in the locker areas.

The Splendor has complimentary steam room, but does Not have a complimentary dry sauna.

The Enchantment does not have either steam or dry sauna.

When we were on Jewel in the summer of 2013, the sauna/steam facility was in the gym locker room. It was rarely used, and when I used it, I was usually by myself and it had no cost. I wonder how they changed it to a for fee service. Not nice either of them to do, if this is accurate.
